Together We Bloom with Laurie

March 6, 2017 / CATEGORIES - Cards, CAS, Floral Cards, New Release

Hello all and Happy Monday!!  I’m back to share a card with you today made with the latest release!! This release has some awesome floral sets and that is exactly what I used for my project today.

SUPPLIES:

Together We Bloom Clear Stamp Set

Stitched Nested Creative Rectangles Dies

Crystal Rainbow Fusion Sequins

Sparkling Crystals Mix

I’m using the new Together We Bloom stamp set.  This set is beautiful!! Full of hand drawn flowers and a big, bold sentiment.  I started out by stamping a couple of the flowers in Memento Tuxedo Black ink onto some white cardstock.  I coloured the flowers with my ProMarkers by Windsor and Newton.

I wanted to make a shaped card and the dies from Studio Katia make this easy and fun!!  I used the Stitched Nested Creative Rectangles Dies.  I die cut two of the larger dies and scored one of them 1/4″ from the top.  I used Scor-Tape to adhere the two panels together, and there you go, a shaped card!!  I die cut one of the smaller dies in the set for my sentiment.

I fussy cut the florals and adhered them to my sentiment panel.  A nice coating of Clear Wink of Stella to these images gave them an extra pop!!  Now for the embellishments!!  In this release there are these super cool crystals!  The look like diamonds except for the pointed tip, they are flat. This makes is so easy to adhere them to your projects.  And boy, do they sparkle!!  Next to the Crystal Rainbow Fusion Sequins, these are my next favorite embellishments.
Thank you for stopping by today.  Have an incredible week!!

I tried to experiment with Brush Strokes stamp set and made a background for my outlined present, which I stamped  in Memento Tuxedo black ink. For the bright spots, I used Spiced Marmalade, Shabby Shutters and Picked Raspberry Distress inks. The sentiment came from Birthday Lion stamp set. At the end, I added a small Clear Heart Drop.

Flying Twins card with Anna

February 11, 2017 / CATEGORIES - Birthday Cards, Cards, CAS

Hello! Anna is here and I want to share my card with two flying twins-lions. I started with some stamping of Birthday Lions stamp set on the blank piece of cardstock. The balloon was stamped the first, then I added the string. I masked the bottom part of the balloon and stamped one ‘flying’ lion. I masked the lion’s paw and stamped his (her) twin. And then removed all masks.

Clear Round Drops

On the next step I colored the characters with Tombow Dual Brush pens and then fussy cut them all as one piece.

For the background I made some clouds directly on the card base and stamped the sentiment. Then I adhered my lions with the foam tape and finished the making with adding small and medium clear round drops.

Happy Birthday with Laurie!

February 6, 2017 / CATEGORIES - Birthday Cards, Cards, CAS, Other

Happy Monday!!  How about we start the week off with a birthday card??!  One of my co-workers is having a birthday this week so I decided to make a her a card!!

SUPPLIES:

Birthday Lions Clear Stamp Set

Darling Ribbon & Dotted Frames Dies

Clear Round Drops 4mm and 5mm

I chose the Birthday Lions stamp set for my card today.  And I decided to use some of the smaller images to create a background panel.  I used some Bristol paper because my medium of choice today was my Zig Clean Colour Brush markers!!  I haven’t used these in awhile and forgot how fun they were!!

I stamped the banner, one of the party hats and one of the hearts from the set with Versamark ink and used my favourite embossing powder, Silver Pearl from Ranger!!  There was no rhyme or reason to my stamping.  I started with the largest image then filled in any spaces with the smaller.

I chose a few happy colors from my 48 marker set and coloured in my images by swiping some colour on the image then blending out with a little water.

I cut the panel down using the largest die from the Darling Ribbon and Dotted Frames dies.  The sentiment die is also from that set.  I LOVE that dotted detail!!
I may be behind the times here but I wanted to add a “nest” of silver thread behind the sentiment. I simply balled it up and used the foam adhesive from the sentiment strip to adhere it down.  To finish this card off, I added some Clear Round Droplets in 4mm and 5mm sizes.
Thank you for joining me today! Wishing you a fabulous week!!

Be Mine with Valentyna

February 1, 2017 / CATEGORIES - Cards, CAS, Valentines Day Cards

Hello friends,
Sharing Be Mine card using Dotted Frame, Sweet Heart Candy stamp set and sequins.
This time I decided to use patterned paper for the background (PTI mini market kit), which I die-cut with Dotted Frame die. I stamped a heart with SSS Magnolia ink and then added an outline and the sentiment in SSS white pigment ink. Fuzzy cut it and placed it in the middle of the spreading rays.

To finish my card off I added Fruit Punch and Crystal Clear sequins onto the background.

Happy Birthday with Erica

January 26, 2017 / CATEGORIES - Birthday Cards, Cards, CAS, Shaker Cards

SUPPLIES:

Birthday Lions

Dotted Balloons Creative Dies

Darling Ribbon & Dotted Frames Creative Dies

New Year’s Bash Fusion which was a Free Sequins Pack with all orders during December.

Hello!

Erica back on the blog with a simple and easy shaker card today. Clean and simple/CAS cards are really not my forte at all but I’m challenging myself to try this style more as I do like it, I’m just rubbish at knowing when to stop before adding everything and ALL. THE. SEQUINS!

Admittedly there are quite a few sequins involved in this card but as they are on the inside, it doesn’t count, right? Well, that’s my opinion and I’m sticking to it.

To start with, I picked out a lovely linen textured white card stock which basically my whole card would consist of. For the card base, I cut out a 11″x4.25″ strip of the card stock and folded it in half to create an A2 sized base. The other piece I cut out to be just slightly smaller than the card base as I didn’t want it too small nor did I want it to cover the entire thing. Once I was happy with the size, I used the balloon die from Dotted Balloons to cut a hole in the smaller panel. Using this as a guide I cut the balloon shape out of two foam sheets, which had already been cut to the same size as the smaller panel, making sure the placement lined up on both of them.

Turning over the smaller panel, the one with the linen texture, I adhered first clear acetate to create the window part to the shaker compartment and then the two foam sheets. Make sure you use a generous amount of adhesive around the die cut hole as otherwise your sequins will get stuck there and not shake properly.

Before adding the sequins to the shaker compartment, I dusted the window with my anti-static tool to avoid all the sequins sticking to the acetate. It’s no good having a shaker card if the sequins refuse to shake around!

For finishing touches I drew a string from the balloon with a skinny copic marker as well as adding a sparkly gold bow cut from Darling Ribbon & Dotted Frames. Using the banner die from Darling Ribbon & Dotted Frames I cut out a piece in linen textured black card stock and stamped ‘Happy Birthday’ on it from Birthday Lions in VersaMark ink and heat embossing it with gold embossing powder. This banner I adhered to the bottom of the card with foam tape.

It is always hard for me to step away from a card when I think I can add more stuff to it but I managed to keep it super simple. Which actually is a bit of a feat for me so yay!

Well, that’s if from me today but hopefully I have inspired you to try a CAS card or a shaker card but as long as you are having fun crafting, that’s all that matters! Until next time,

Hugs,

Masculine Thank You cards by Erica

January 13, 2017 / CATEGORIES - Cards, CAS, Other, Thank You Cards

Hello!

Erica on the blog today with a couple of really quick ‘thank you’ cards in masculine colours. It’s not just women who appreciate a thank you note after all.

After picking out a navy and textured metallic blue card stock I started by cutting out two panels using the A2 die from Darling Ribbon & Dotted Frames. The navy card stock I embossed with a quilt look embossing folder to give it some texture. The next step was to cut out a hole in each panel where the sentiment was going to peek out from. I used the wavy circle from Dotted Balloons creative cut set. Setting the two panels aside, I started on the background panels. For the navy blue card I decided on a mint green card stock for a nice contrast and for the metallic blue I used the same navy blue as the other card. The navy blue background I also embossed with the same quilt embossing folder to add some more texture to the card.

Using the Mini MISTI I placed both the background panel and the top panel in before placing my sentiment stamp. Doing things this way is a great way to make sure your sentiment ends up right where you want it and I must confess I am absolutely addicted to using the MISTI for even the simplest stamping. Just in case the first stamping isn’t as clear or crisp as I would like it.

Sprinkling the background panel generously with an anti-static tool is a must when using embossing powder and I did just that before stamping the sentiment from the ‘Mini Thank You’ set in VersaMark ink. I thought about using silver embossing powered but went with white instead in the end.

One of the cards, the navy one, I put together using a 1mm thick foam tape just to raise it a little bit and the metallic blue is as flat as possible. After gluing them onto card bases, I decided that they needed a little bit of bling, despite being masculine cards. I picked out a few 4 and 6mm sequins from the Jet Black sequin fusion pack, black isn’t too frilly and “blingy” is it?? The black sequins went on the navy blue card. Then I started thinking (oh boy, right…?) and thought it needed a white one or two too on the mint green part, just to frame the sentiment a little. I picked out just one each of 4 and 6mm Iridescent Magnolia and added them to the card. Moving on to the metallic blue card, I thought the black sequins would just blend in too much so I went with the Iridescent Magnolia sequins again but just on the navy blue part.

And that, my friends, is it! Quick and easy thank you cards made. If you like the design but want to give it to a girl friend, just use whatever colours you/the recipient like and mix’n’match sequins to fit the colour scheme you pick.

Happy crafting from Erica!
