Holiday Cards with Guest Designer Michelle

September 29, 2017 / CATEGORIES - Cards, Guest Designer, Halloween, Winter Holidays

Hello there, Michelle here and I am delighted to be Guest Designing with Studio Katia. I have two cards to share with you today. My first card uses the adorable Meowy Halloween Stamp Set and coordinating dies.

I started off by stamping the kitty from the set on to white cardstock. I coloured her using Copic Markers and then cut her out using coordinating dies. I took a panel of white cardstock and cut an aperture from it using one of the dies from the Dotted Pattern: Scallop Frames Die Set. I then stamped the sentiment below the aperture with black ink.

On to a piece of Bristol cardstock, I blended over purple and black Distress Inks to create a background. This piece I then adhered to the front of a black A2 card base. Next I added window panel on top with foam tape. I added the kitty to the centre, also with foam tape. To finish off, I adhered few Clear Round Drops.

—————-

My next card uses the adorable Winter Kobi Stamp set and coordinating dies. Plus, the Dotted Pattern: Scallop Frames Die Set.

I started off by stamping Kobi, his sleigh and presents on some white cardstock using black ink. The images were then coloured using Copic Markers and cut out using the coordinating dies. I took a piece of white cardstock and cut it using the largest scallop die from the Dotted Pattern: Scallop Frames Die Set. I freehand cut a mask for the snow and added this to the bottom of the panel. I then blended over Broken China Distress Ink to create a soft sky background.

Next I removed the mask and added Kobi, his sleigh and presents on to a panel with foam tape. I stamped a sentiment from Friends of Winter Stamp Set using black ink. I then adhered the whole panel on to a white A2 card base with foam tape. To finish off, I added few Crystal Rainbow Confetti.

Thank you so much for visiting the blog today! I hope you have a great day!

Michelle

Christmas galaxy card with Kaja

September 25, 2017 / CATEGORIES - Cards, Winter Holidays

Hi there,

It’s Kaja from Kajcyika crafts with my first solo post on Studio Katia blog! I am super excited and I hope you will like the card. 🙂

Take a look at what I have created:

I decided to make a cute Christmas card with a galaxy background. First, I cut a piece of white cardstock, that was slightly smaller than the card base and I die cut the Dotted oval shape on the left hand side.

I took my card base and started making the background. I covered the paper with mustard seed, fired brick and seedless preserves distress inks. Then, I took a black soot color and put a light coat of it on top. The colors in the back are now a muted down quite a lot and this helps it look like a galaxy. The last thing that I did on the background were the white splotches that look like stars and this makes our galaxy even more beautiful.

I stamped a cute dear from newly released set called Friends of winter and decided to add a sleigh with some gifts next to him, so it looks like he is delivering gifts all over the galaxy. I colored the stamped images with my watercolor markers.

The last thing I added was Merry christmas sentiment in the top right corner. I glued everything together with some double sided tape and foam rectangles and the card was all finished! 🙂

Thank you so much for joining me! See you next time.

Simple and Adorable Christmas Tags with Amanda

September 21, 2017 / CATEGORIES - Winter Holidays

Hello Everyone!  Amanda here sharing some super fun Christmas tags that I’ve started making for the upcoming holiday season!  I make lots of tags and attach them to gifts, it’s funny how people often love the handmade tag or card as much as the gift itself!

I started by cutting my tag base using the brand new Dotted Shaker Tag – 2 Dies with some heavy weighted white cardstock.  I absolutely love the shape and pierced detail this die offers! Using my round sponge dauber, I applied Broken China Distress ink and a white acrylic paint splatter with a small round paint brush.  I always cut my white paint with water 50/50 to thin it out a bit, it makes a perfect snowflake or star consistency on my projects.

I Copic colored and cut out the images from Friends of Winter and Origami Winter stamp sets. I glued down the package and tree, then foam popped the characters up for a dimensional look.  To finish off my tags, I tied some eyelash yarn into the diecut circle on top, I love the sparkle this adds to my tags!

Thank you all so much for stopping, I hope you’ve enjoyed my Studio Katia projects and are inspired to make your own handmade tags for the holidays!

Bulk Making Holiday Cards with Tracy

September 20, 2017 / CATEGORIES - Cards, Winter Holidays

Hello Everyone! I am super excited to share my first solo post with you on the Studio Katia Blog.

I’m not sure about you but no matter how much I plan I always seem to not have enough Christmas cards and end up having to make more. This year I have been looking for ways to create some easy cards that I can create in bulk. The new Friends Of Winter Stamp set is perfect for this, especially the cute little snowman.

I have created these cards using minimal supplies and time.

To start off I stamped the snowmen onto some Bristol Smooth paper and coloured them using Prismacolor pencils, I used only one pencil per colour for quickness. I die cut them out using the coordinating dies and added some Glossy Accents to the eyes and buttons.

Whilst I waited for them to dry I die cut some more Bristol Smooth using the rectangle from the Dotted Patterns Set 1 and using a blending tool I did some basic inking using Distress Oxide in Broken China. I made some sparkle spray by adding some Perfect Pearls to water and spraying the pieces and blotting them off. Once dry I used the Merry Christmas sentiment from the Origami Winter set and stamped it on all 3 panels.

I created some A2 top folding notecards from some Neenah and using some Simple Stories paper in coordinating colours I trimmed them down to A2 and adhered them to the note cards. I added some dimension by popping them up with foam tape and adhered the rest of the card together.

I still thought the cards needed something and the new Snow Crystals are perfect for this type of card to just add that little something, and of course they make the perfect snowflakes 🙂

The 3 cards took me very little time to create and you can cut the time down even further by not using glossy accents, I know these will be my cards for bulk making this holiday season.

Thank you so much for stopping by today, I hope you have a great day.

Happy Crafting

Tracy

Fall + Winter Release Preview – Last Day!

September 14, 2017 / CATEGORIES - New Release, Sneak Peek, Winter Holidays

Hello and welcome to Day 4 of our Fall+Winter Release Preview Week.

Today is the last Preview Day before the Big Reveal tomorrow and our New Release Blog Hop. We are so excited about all the new products coming to the store on September 15th! Enjoy more fabulous stamp sets today and fantastic creations from our Design Team. They had a blast playing with all new stamps, dies and embellishments.

These Fall and Winter themed products will be available On September 15th!

Laura
I started off by stamping and colouring images from the Sweet Holiday set and die cutting them with coordinating dies. For the background I cut out scalloped rectangle die, heat embossed the sentiment using white embossing powder and starry sky with clear glitter embossing powder. I created snowy hillsides by cutting out scalloped rectangle from white cardstock and cutting hillside shapes out of it.

For my card base I layered heavyweight white cardstock cut to 4 1/4″ by 5 1/2″ with red cardstock cut to 4 1/8″ by 5 3/8″. I thought this would help me frame my scene and tie in the red elements in the stamped images with the rest of the card. I then glued everything to my card base, and, for a finishing touch, I added a few of the newly released Snow Crystals around the sentiment.

Natalia
Winter holidays are my favorite, so there was no question about what I want to create with the Sweet Holiday set. I like making shakers for every season, especially winter. I started with die cutting a scalloped frame for the shaker. I inked the background, stamped, coloured and die cut images for the scene. I covered the background scene with acetate, that way sequins won’t touch the house, nor the snow banks in the background. Now I just need to arrange the characters and – my favourite part – fill the shaker with sequins. I used Iridescent Magnolia Fusion; Vintage Sheer Fusion; Majestic; Silver Dust Seed Beads and Clear Dust Seed Beads.

Kaja
As soon as I saw the new Friends of winter set I fell in love! Thats why I decided to stamp all of the images and colour them with my alcohol markers. In the end, I only ended up using the Santa on this card, but I will use the others on another project. I wanted to keep the card quite simple so I blended only two colours of ink in the background. I left the bottom part of the card white.

While the colours were still wet I used some perfect pearls on top of them for a lovely shimmer. The last thing on the background were the white splotches that I made with white paint. I just had to try new Dotted patterns – scalloped frames die, so I put it as a focal point behind my Santa. I trimmed the background just a bit for a nice white border around the edge. It looks like the white splotches are snow so I stamped the sentiment that says Let it snow from Friends of winter set to finish off the card.

Olga

Olga created fun and colourful wobbler card for today’s preview. Those googly eyes are just perfect to add to the images as another fun detail.

We hope you have enjoyed this look at Sweet Holiday Stamp Set & Coordinating Dies and Friends of Winter Stamp Set & Coordinating Dies! Come back tomorrow for the Big Reveal of our Release and a Blog Hop filled with fabulous and inspiring projects!!

I stamped the single flower and several leaves from the Marry Poinsettia Stamp Set. I was going for a no-line watercolour look. I embossed a panel for the card front and popped on Dotted Shaker Tag using foam tape. I then die cut my flowers and leaves using the coordinating dies for the Merry Poinsettia Stamp Set and arranged them on to the tag. In the end I die cut the word Merry in silver and glued it on the tag. For some bling I added beautiful Majestic Fusion Sequin Mix and for pop of colour I added some home made enamel dots in red.
Isn’t it just a beautiful stamp set?! And you get THREE flowers with beautiful sentiment stamps.

Galachko
I used a stamp set Merry Poinsettia and a die sentiment from coordinating dies. I colored flowers using alcohol markers and decorated middle of the flowers with gold beads. I cut out few phrases using black cardstock and glued several diecuts to get a nice pop-up embellishment. I cut a panel using Fancy Square dies and painted the frame with gold paint.

Svetlana
For today’s preview I have a fun wintery shaker card featuring Winter Kobi stamp set. First I’ve stamped and coloured Christmas lights for the background. Next I’ve stamped Kobi, Santa’s sack and sleigh, coloured them and die cut the images using the coordinating dies. I made a frame for the shaker and filled it with new Iridescent Veil, Majestic Confetti, Clear Round Drops and Silver Dust beads. This turned out to be a very fun scenery card.

We hope you have enjoyed this look at Merry Poinsettia Stamp Set & Coordinating Dies and Winter Kobi Stamp Set & Coordinating Dies! Our designers sure had lots of fun playing with these. Let us know what you think and remember to stop by the blog tomorrow! It will be our last preview day before the Big Reveal and New Release Blog Hop!

Five Ways to Use Kobi the Birthday Bear with Kelly

August 1, 2017 / CATEGORIES - Birthday Cards, Cards, Guest Designer, Hello Cards, Winter Holidays

Hi Folks! I’m Kelly from Notable Nest. I was excited to meet Katia at Creativation this year, as I think she has one of the hottest new lines of stamps in our industry! It’s always exciting to see new companies come on to the scene, and even moreso when they have such fun and fresh products.
One of the stamp sets I was dying to play with is the Kobi the Birthday Bear set. My personal goal this year is to make more birthday cards for all the littles in my life (nieces, nephews, cousins’ kids, friends’ kids), and this set is perfect for that. I was happy to find there are many other options available, so I decided to collect them together for a “5 Ways” post. Let’s take a look!
5 WAYS TO USE KOBI THE BIRTHDAY BEAR

1. Use all the Accessories
I have to admit, sometimes I get a little lazy and just focus on the main image of a set, but I really do love the look of a card that includes all the secondary images and accessories. If you keep the coordinating dies attached, and line up all the related stamps on your MISTI, you can stamp them and cut them all at once. Really not much more time required. For this card, I think I’m only missing the tiny bee stamp and a slice of cake, but everything else is included. The panel from Dotted Patterns Set – 1 is just the right size to fit Kobi and all of his birthday accessories. The dotted details on the edges give it a nice depth. I cut a second panel from green patterned paper, cut it in half, and layered that on top of the main white panel to give Kobi a place to sit.
I’m also madly in love with the Tropical Forest Fusion sequin mix! I use a lot of greens, so the color is perfect for me, but I also appreciate all the different shades of green and sizes of sequins that are included. For a bag of green sequins, you certainly get your money’s worth here!

2. Turn Kobi into a Polar Bear
Kobi doesn’t always have to be a cute, cuddly brown teddy bear. Just let him be a white polar bear. Not only do you save yourself some coloring effort, but now you have the perfect focal point for your Christmas cards!

The bow from Dotted Patterns Set – 1 looks right at home on this Christmas card when cut from red foil, and is the right size to make Kobi more festive. The sentiments are from the Happy set, which is a great compliment to the Kobi set, as you can see how the secondary words are all the same size and font.

3. Make a Partner for Kobi in Reverse
I wanted to make an anniversary card, but was stumped on how to do this with a single bear. Stamping another bear was a possibility, but I really wanted them facing each other and interacting, like a couple would be on their anniversary. I remembered my old reverse-a-stamp block, which is just a solid piece of rubber that you stamp on, and then stamp again on your piece of paper. Voila…a reversed image! Since it’s a second generation stamp the lines are often lighter and broken, so I just run over the stamped image with a felt pen. For the die I just stamped on the back side of the die.

In addition to the Kobi and Happy sets, I used the Brush Stroke Stripes to quickly create the yellow background. The Majestic Fusion sequin mix is great to use when I want a little something additional, but don’t want to introduce another color.

4. Just Use a Portion of Kobi
As cute as Kobi is, a good way to mix things up is to only use a portion of the image. Here, I’ve just stamped his head on a circle die from Dotted Patterns Set – 1. I made a couple snips along the “DON’T WORRY BE” stamp so I could curve it around the circle, and did the same with the “happy” stamp.
The panel is also worth mentioning …

I made it by lining up the gift card die from Dotted Patterns Set – 1 along a curve and cutting it twice. Who knew, it makes the cutest little scalloped panel?!?
The fun, iridescent purple flowers dressing up Kobi are from the Siberian Iris flowers.

5. Stamp a Whole Family of Kobis
Finally, why not make a lot of Kobis by stamping and masking? We have 4 people in our family, so anytime I make multiples of a critter I usually make 4 of them to represent everyone in our family. I think it makes more sense for the recipient to see 4 bears when they read the sentiment “you make US happy.”Here’s a quick tip when making multiples from one stamp … make sure to rotate the image slightly in different directions each time you stamp it so they look more like different bears. For the panel on the bottom I forgot to do this for the 3 bears on the right, and you can really tell they are the exact same image repeated. For the top panel I rotated the stamp each time so they look a little more varied.Even though I wasn’t thrilled with the bottom panel, I didn’t want to waste it, so I colored it in quickly and made a simple card from it. On the top card I stamped “happy” several times on the card base before adhering the panel of bears.

Well folks, that wraps up our post showing five different ways to use the utterly charming Kobi the Birthday Bear. And, as you can see, he’s clearly not limited to just birthday cards. In this post we’ve covered birthday, holidays, anniversary, encouragement, and a general thank you. I hope you’ve gotten some ideas on how to create several cards with different looks from this one set.
Thanks very much to Katia for inviting me today! I had a lot of fun!

Christmas in July theme week-Day 5 with Erica

July 14, 2017 / CATEGORIES - Cards, CAS, Other, Theme Week, Winter Holidays

HO HO HO!! Merry July-mas or Christmas in July as we are celebrating this week here at Studio Katia!

Erica on the blog today with my take on this fun theme. I made a very simple card BUT I didn’t use any of the Christmas stamp sets available, oh no, not me. That would be too easy. I have a habit of not taking the easy route. Just ask my husband, lol!

Anyway, I looked through my stash to see what spoke to me and I saw a vintage bauble in one of the stamps from the Brush Strokes, can you see it?

I got my MINI MISTI out and placed an A2 sized piece of water colour card stock, which had been dusted with my anti-static tool, in it before placing the stamp in the first position and stamped it up. I wanted a vintage look so I used Gold Tinsel embossing powder from RangerInk. Re-positioning the stamp I stamped a second bauble and heat embossed that too. The third bauble I placed slightly behind one of the others, which I had covered with a mask.

For the sentiments I used single word stamps from Pink Winter and Sweet Heart Candy to write ‘Merry Christmas, Hugs & Kisses’ on the baubles. These I also heat embossed but with a Wow Embossing Powder called Gold Pearl.

Once all three were heat embossed, I got my Gansai Tambi 36-pack water colours out and loosely coloured the baubles in. I tried going for soft vintage colours to not cover up the sentiments completely. In hindsight, I should have used a brighter colour or gone for black for them but oh well, you live and learn.

A final touch was adding a bit of green around the baubles to mimic a Christmas tree and ribbons from which the baubles are hanging. Ta-da!! All done and pretty quick too!

That’s it from me today but I hope I have inspired you to join in with our Christmas in July theme and get ahead with those Christmas cards. Let’s be honest, it is never too early to get started on these as we always need more than we think, right?

Join us on social media by using the hashtag #studiokatia so we can see your fabulous creations! For more inspiration, check out Studio Katia Instagram here and make sure to hit Follow button for tons of inspiration and news about new releases, giveaways and collaborations!

Happy crafting and happy July-mas from Erica!
