Layered snowflakes. Video

October 13, 2020 / CATEGORIES - Cards, CAS, Winter Holidays

Hello everyone!

I’ve started making Christmas cards some time ago and today Im going to show how to create beautiful and quick cards using  FLORAL SNOWFLAKE STENCIL.

How to made such cards you can watch here or on Studio Katia Youtube channel.

For the first card I decided to use some cool tones of my distress inks, and at first I’m applying light shades of blue inks on a white card base.

To create a second layer of my snowy card I used a piece of transparent vellum. I cut it a little bit bigger than my card just to for easier positioning later on the card. And I apply inks trough the stencil on the vellum piece. Darker colors are better visible on vellum so I picked a dark blue intense colos from my stash.

To hide the foam tape between layers I cut ot a white frame using Half Striped Cover plate die. I cut off the inner stripes and adhered the frma on the vellum.

In a same way I created one more card, this time I used some pink and red shades of distress inks.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Glitter Birthday Card with Isha

October 12, 2020 / CATEGORIES - Birthday Cards, Cards

Hello everyone! Isha here with you today with a fun, sparkly birthday card using stencil. I chose some autumn colors to make it perfect for this season 🙂

I started by creating the background panel. I sponged distress oxide inks in wilted violet, abandoned coral, worn lipstick and scattered straw to a white layer. I then put the Confetti stencil and sponged the same colors using the blender brushes. Now, I mixed some Sparkle glitter to translucent embossing paste and applied through the stencil. Remove the stencil and wash immediately. Let this piece dry. I die-cut three tags using the Slider Tag die. One white, one vellum and the third using a yellow cardstock. Adhere the vellum onto the white and then adhere this to the yellow, slightly offset from the bottom part. Stamp the cake image using the Mini Birthday Cake stamp, color using copic markers and die-cut. Apply some spectrum noir clear sparkle pen to the icing.

Adhere the tag to the mat layer. Adhere the mat layer to the card and then using a 3D foam adhere the cake image.Tie an cream and gold twine and the word enjoy. Thank you for dropping by! Have a nice day and stay safe!

Quick and Easy Card Mini Series PT 3

October 10, 2020 / CATEGORIES - CAS, Floral Cards

Hey lovelies, Tracy here with my third part of the quick and easy card series. Part 2 can be found here.

This is probably the quickest card of the whole series but I wanted to show that outline stamps don’t have to be coloured in.

IMG-5447

I used the You’re So Sweet stamp set and using one of the floral images I stamped randomally all over some card, I then used one of the leaf stamps to fill in any gaps. If you are doing this then make sure to make it look natural that you stamp some off the edge of the card.

Once I was happy I used the Scallop Hearts Cover outer die to die cut the piece out and stamped a sentiment. I then used some twine around the top of the card for texture and adhered the whole panel onto a Kraft card base and finished off with some Majestic Fushion Sequins.

This sort of card is fantastic if you have a lot of cards to make, you can totally mix the colours up and its suitable for so many occasions. It also gives your outline stamps another great way to be used.

Don’t be afraid to mix it up and use coloured embossing powders or metallic ink pads, there really is so many options you can use.

If you feel your card is lacking then use a slighly facnier die like I have.

I hope you have enjoyed the mini series so far, please let me know if you want me to create some more cards for it, or is there another mini series you’d like to see ?

Thanks for stopping by today, I hope you have an amazing day. Happy Crafting.

Happy Boo-day by Tracey

October 9, 2020 / CATEGORIES - Autumn/Fall Cards, Cards, Halloween, Shaker Cards

Hey there crafty peeps! I have a couple of friends who have a birthday right around Halloween, so it’s always fun to make a Halloween inspired birthday card for them each year.

I have a slimline card today that could be a birthday card or it could be a just a Halloween card. I cut two panels of Bristol Smooth cardstock using the large rectangle from the Dotted Slimline Set 1 dies. Using the Birthday Balloons Duo Stencil I ink blended balloons of different sizes on the panel using the Studio Katia Blending Brushes. I used Wilted Violet, Mowed Lawn, Spiced Marmalade and Black Soot Distress Oxide inks. The panel was adhered to a 3 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ card base in landscape format.

Using the second panel of Bristol Smooth cardstock I ink blended with Twisted Citron, Moved Lawn and Black Soot Distress Oxide ink. I cut the panel using the large oval from the Dotted Slimline Set 1 dies. Then I backed the opening with acetate to make a shaker window. Using Studio Katia Black Double Sided Foam Tape I made a double thickness well around the shaker window. Then I added some Studio Katia Spooky Satin Confetti onto the centre of the balloons on the card base. I spread them out a bit with my fingers so they weren’t stacked up too much. I removed the tape baking from the top panel and secured it over the card base securing the shaker.

The ‘happy’ sentiment from the Happy Celebrations stamp set was white embossed onto a strip of black cardstock cut from the Halftone Lines Cover die, this die is a staple in my craft room. I love that it cuts so many line widths all with a perfect rounded edge. I adhered it on an angle above the oval.

I cut my punny sentiment from the Studio Katia Chunky Alphabet dies with purple sparkly cardstock and I adhered it to the centre of the clear window with Studio Katia Glue. A little trick I use to when I have a sentiment made up of individual letters to keep them spaced out evenly, I lay them on to my work surface and I picked them all up using a strip of purple tape. Then I can flip it over, add liquid glue to the backs of the letters and then put it on to my project exactly where I want it to do. I leave it until the glue dries and then remove the purple tape. Works like a charm.

Hope you enjoyed making a card with me today. A Halloween inspired card made with just a birthday balloon stencil, alphabet dies and a bit of ink. Thanks for dropping in and have a great day!

Fall Card with Laura

October 8, 2020 / CATEGORIES - Autumn/Fall Cards, Cards, Other

Hi everyone! It’s Laura here and today I am back to show you how to create a beautiful fall themed card! There is a video tutorial at the end of this post, so stay tuned for that, too!

The card features a DIY plaid background that I created with the Grid Stencil and Distress Oxides. I loved coming up with this fun way to stretch the use of an already great stencil – and I love that it can be customized in so many ways!

For the heart I used the Fancy Scalloped Heart dies and I did some more ink blending with Distress Oxides. I chose some blues to create a nice contrast with the warm tones of the plaid background.

The focal point of the card is a die cut pumpkin that I colored with Illustrator alcohol markers. I die cut some Neenah Solar White cardstock with the Pumpkin Shaker Die and then went ahead and colored it. Here is the list of markers I used

Orange: BO4, BO3, BO2, BO1
Green: YG3, YG2, YG1

For my sentiment I used the Trimmings Sayings One stamp set and the Simple Trimmings Dies. I did some heat embossing with gold embossing powder and I finished off the card with some Gold Foil Confetti.

Don’t forget to check out the video below to see how you can create this elegant fall card with a DIY plaid background !

As always thank you all so much for stopping by and have a great day!

A Cup of Thanks with Emily

October 5, 2020 / CATEGORIES - Cards, Thank You Cards

Hello, friends and Happy Monday! Today, I’m sharing a card featuring one of my all-time favourite floral images. Everything’s better with a teacup, right? The featured image is from A Cup of Thanks.
I stamped the image on watercolour cardstock and heat embossed it with sparkle embossing powder. Then I watercoloured it with distress inks and die cut it with the coordinating A Cup of Thanks Dies. I set the image aside and used the Stitched Borders Dies to create an anchor on a panel which I smooshed with coordinating inks to create a muted background.
I used my Tool ‘N One to randomly remove some of the die cut circles from the border. Then I die cut the Mini Thank You Die from graphite foil and adhered both die cuts to fun foam for dimension.
I ink blended the edges of the card base with Old Paper distress ink to coordinate with the leaves and adhered all the layers to the card base. To embellish the card, I stacked three types of sequins – Iridescent Bubbles – Tiny, Majestic Confetti and Magic Mint Fusion – using liquid glue and an embellishment wand.
Please visit me on my blog, Instagram and YouTube channel for more inspiration. Thanks so much for stopping by!

Halloween card with Olga

October 3, 2020 / CATEGORIES - Cards, Halloween

Hello friends! It’s Olga and I have a Halloween shaker card to share with you.

To create my Halloween scene, I stamped the cute little cat in a witches’ hat with different elements from the MEOWY HALLOWEEN and die cut them using MEOWY HALLOWEEN DIES. I then colored the images using Copic Markers.

Next, I created the background. I ink blended purple shades for the top panel of the shaker and orange shades for the backdrop of the shaker. To add some shine, I sprinkled all the elements with gold acrylic paint.

The next step was to die cut all the pieces for the shaker card. I first die cut the larger frame from the DOTTED SLIMLINE – SET 2. Next, I die cut the center of the panel using the oval dotted frame from the DOTTED SLIMLINE – SET 1. Behind the slimline panel, I glued a piece of acetate cut large enough to cover the window. To line the perimeter of the oval opening I used DOUBLE SIDED FOAM TAPE – BLACK that I cut to about half of the width.

I then filled the shaker with NEON TANGERINE CRYSTALS, WICKED sequins and GOLD DUST seed beads to the center of the orange panel and carefully lined up the front panel to create the shaker. I adhered previously prepared images on the card.

To finish off this slimline card I die cut a BOO sentiment using CHUNKY ALPHABET dies and then attached it to the card.

I hope this card inspired you today. Thank you for stopping by and until next time.

Textured pattern using acorn die

October 2, 2020 / CATEGORIES - Birthday Cards, Cards

Hello everyone! It’s Galina. And today I’m going to show you a one layered autumn birthday card. This card design will be perfect for masculine cards also.

How to make this card you can watch here or Studio Katia Youtube channel.

I start by to cut out a several acorns from a white card panel. . I tried place my die on different angels to create an effect of falling acorns from a tree. NExt I aplied a dark blue ink on a panel and brown inks on the acorn parts.

Using detailed stencil called autumn leave stencil I created a background. This stencil is perfect for any seseson card, I have made a lot of summer cards with it, you can check other projects on this blog or  on Youtube channel. So, I applying a light blue color of distress oxide ink. It’s a pigment ink so it will be visible on a dark surface. If you don’t have oxise inks you can use a white pigment ink or a darker color of regular ink. Like super deep blue or even a black color. The pattern will look awesome e anyway.

I inlaid the acorn pieces into the car panel. Ididn’t add the outline die cut to create a nice texture on the card. So im placing each die cut back in to the panel. It’s like putting puzzle together. Very satisfying process.

I heat embosset the sentiment with white embossing powder. I used a small stamp from the big set of birthday sentiments.

To embilsh my card I used a few gold drops from Studio Katia.

Thanks for stopping by!

Galina
