Oval shape floral pattern using Happy Tulips Stamp Set

June 23, 2022 / CATEGORIES - Cards, CAS, Floral Cards

Hello everyone!

Galina with you! Today I’m going to show you a fun technique using Happy Tulips Stamp Set and DOTTED PATTERNS SET 3. I called it shaped floral patterns and you will need a medium size flower stamp and basic shape die.

I used the oval die from DOTTED PATTERNS SET 3 because it cuts a thin outline frame as well and it’s very convenient to use it a s guid with this technique.

How to make this card you watch here or on Studio Katia Youtube channel

I stamped 4 flowers on a white paper using Memento black ink. I made a simple coloring on them using Copic alcohol based markers. I want to have a bright bold red colors on my card, so they will look awesome on a white card base.

And  I embellished the card with a clear drops, that also helped me to fill the oval shape. I heat embossed the sentiments with white embossing powder on black cardstock and cut them in stripes.

Thanks for stopping by!

VIDEO: Two For One Foiling Cards with Erica

June 21, 2022 / CATEGORIES - Other

Hi Studio Katia fans!

It’s Erica back on the YouTube channel today, with two-for-one foiling cards using the Mom hot foil plate and the diecut. Thanks to the Pinkfresh Solid Hot Foil Plate I was able to use the negative piece of foil, for a second card. Using the Solid Hot Foil Plate means less foil waste and that is a big win-win for sure!

Spring Roses. Hot Foiling on Acetate

June 17, 2022 / CATEGORIES - Other

Hello crafty friends,

Lately, I’ve been experimenting with hot foils on different mediums other than cardstock (I’ve spent several hours on this already… lol). I especially wanted to try on acetate and vellum, and I thought the new Studio Katia’s foil plates were ideal to give this a try.

The process is exactly the same as you would do with your hot foil plates on cardstock; you just have to take note of the heat and time settings for your machine when using acetate. I used the Gemini Hot Foil which suggests 15secs of heating for acetate. Always follow the instructions of your machine to avoid damage and disappointment, also note that you have to use heat resistant acetate sheets. I tried using the Spring Roses foil plate on gold and bright pink foils. Both colours worked well and they were very noticeable on the acetate. I also took advantage of the left over foil to get a negative impression. Then I used the matching die to cut them out.

I decided to use the pink roses for a mini slimline shaker card and added a mix of Chunky Glitter and Crystal Rainbow Confetti inside. I stamped a sentiment from the set Sunshine of Hope on gold embossing powder and added a few iridescent bubbles.

The yellow card was very simple to make too. I cut a piece of vanilla colour cardstock, inked the edges just a bit, and adhered it to an A2 card base. I trimmed a 3 X 2” panel of white cardstock, splattered some gold watercolor and mounted the gold acetate roses in one corner. I stamped and heat embossed a sentiment from the Spring Roses stamp set and placed the panel in the centre of the card. I then glued some gold pearls to finish it off.

Hot foiling is very satisfying and one can be very creative with it. I hope this inspires you to experiment with other foiling mediums and don’t forget to share your experience with us.

See you next time,

Cheers!!!

3 ways to use MICRO HEXAGON COVER DIE as a stencil

June 16, 2022 / CATEGORIES - Cards, CAS, Other

Hello everyone, it’s Galina!

Today I want to share with you 3 cards and 3 ways how you can use the MICRO HEXAGON COVER DIE creatively. For all of my cards I used a cute stamp set HOPPY EASTER Stamp Set, it includes some non Easter stamps, so it can be used all year round.

How to make those cards you can watch here or on Studio Katia Youtube channel

For the first card I used MICRO HEXAGON COVER DIE as a stencil and applied distress inks throught the die directly on the card panel. No die cutting 🙂

And for sure you can use a die cut as a stencil and apply inks through the openings in the paper and you will get a different result!

After you are done with ink blending you can clean the die with a baby wipe OR spray it with water or shimmer spray (just a little bit) and press to the white card panel. And you will get a multi colored stamped pattern.

Thanks for stippong by!

VIDEO: Hot Foil Spring Roses | Foiling tips and tricks with Erica

June 14, 2022 / CATEGORIES - Other

Hi everyone!
It’s Erica back on the Studio Katia blog and YouTube channel today, with a bit of hot foiling as my spring release package finally arrived! YAY!!!

In this video I have used the Spring Roses hot foil plate and I’ve also gone over some of the things that work for me when it comes to foiling. I did not always get great results with foiling, but after watching numerous YouTube videos by Yana Smakula and the Pinkfresh team I have had much better results!
Some key points for great results:
-Make sure your hot foil plate is evenly heated, as well as very hot. I do find that if I leave my machine on for a while before I do the actual foiling, I consistently get better results.
-The smoother the paper the better! It also helps if it’s nice and thick, which I thought was totally counterintuitive, but it’s true. 300gr per square meter/110lbs and up, are fab.
-When rolling it through your diecutting machine, go slow!
Practice makes perfect, so don’t give up!

Create a shaker vase using SHAKER APPLE DIES

June 9, 2022 / CATEGORIES - Cards, Floral Cards, Shaker Cards

Hello everyone!

Galina is here. Today I want to show how you can use your dies creatively. I want to create a vase for the beautiful flowers from the Daisy Bunch stamp set and I find that Shaker Apple Die will work perfectly!

How to make this card you can watch here or on Studio Katia Youtube channel.

I cut out a shaker opening on the bottom of the card panel and attached a clear acetate sheet on the back. On a white card base a stapemed a stems only using black ink and on a separate paper sheet I stamped flowers only. If you don’t like fussy cut you can stamp the flower on a card panel above the shaker opening.

I used a thick foam tape – 1/4 WIDE FOAM ROLL – 1/8″ THICK to finish the shaker base. I colored the flowers with my favorite blue markers and I picked the matching shaker elements for them: Winter Wonderland – Sequins Fusion (I removed a snowflake sequins),  ICY SPARKLE CRYSTALS, Crystal Clear – Sequins Fusion (they have a nice blue shine), Silver Dust Seed Beads.

I heat embossed the sentiment using a small stam from Happy Tulips Stamp Set.

Graduation Shaker Card

June 8, 2022 / CATEGORIES - Cards, Floral Cards, New Release, Other, Shaker Cards

Graduation Card, Shaker Card, Studio Katia, blue, yellow, masculine, Card Making, Stamping, Die Cutting, handmade card, ilovedoingallthingscrafty, Stamps, how to,

Hello friends, Ilda here!

Graduation season is upon us and I am so very thankful that my son gets to have a normal High School Graduation this year. After the last two years of a very restricted High School experience, he finally gets to enjoy a little normalcy at the end. Today I am sharing the Graduation shaker card I made for him, luckily he pays no attention to my social media, so this will be a surprise for when he graduates at the end of the month. Blue and yellow are his school colors, so I thought this would be perfect for him.

CARD RECIPE

  • Stamp the Happy Graduation cap onto Bristol Paper using Fadeout Ink for a no-line watercolor look.  Here I used Zig Clean Color Markers.
  • Once colored and dry, die cut the Graduation cap using the Happy Graduation Dies.
  • For the background, use the Chucky Sprinkles Stencil. I blended out blue ink and then used a gold paste.
  • For the front of the shaker, use the largest of Nested Ovals to cut the window.
  • I used Blue ink to blend out the edges of the card panel.
  • Line the back of the oval window using Acetate.
  • Use the new Foam Strips 1/8th to create the space for the shaker pieces to move.
  • Fill the shaker area. I used Radiant Pineapple Fusion and blue stars (sorry no longer sold).
  • Remove the protective tape and seal with the sprinkled background.

Graduation Card, Shaker Card, Studio Katia, blue, yellow, masculine, Card Making, Stamping, Die Cutting, handmade card, ilovedoingallthingscrafty, Stamps, how to,

  • Glue shaker to an A2 size card base.
  • Stamp out the sentiment from the Happy Graduation onto a banner from the Simple Trimmings Dies. I used the Misti to make the sentiment curve like the banner.
  • Die-cut a shadow layer using gold foil paper and glue the banner to the card front.
  • Pop the Graduation cap onto the front of the shaker window using foam tape.
  • Finish the front by adding some Blue satin pearls, these I picked out from the Satin Pearls Mix.
  • It’s hard to see from the photos, but I added a little extra sparkle to the bottom of the flowers using some Sparkle Glitter.

I hope this graduation shaker inspired you today, especially if you were wanting to create a masculine graduation card with this stamp.

Thank you for stopping by and until next time… Happy Crafting!

Puppy Dreams Mini Slimline Card

June 3, 2022 / CATEGORIES - Other

Hello crafty friends Monica here again!

Today’s card features the Furry Dreams stamp. This set is super cute and perfect for those pet lover friends in our lives.

I stamped a few of the doggy images on white cardstock, coloured them with alcohol markers and cut them with the matching die. I trimmed a piece of textured cardstock and used similar colour inks to create a shadow behind each puppy and then adhered them on top of each inked area. I also the mini paw stamp from the set to randomly stamp a few paws on the white panel, I did this as an accent instead of using embellishments.

I stamped a sentiment from the set on black cardstock, added white embossing powder, heat set it and placed it at the top of the panel. I used a piece of cardstock from the Spring Pastels Polka cardstock and cut it with the Mini Slimline die set to get the base panel. I inked the edges a bit with some red ink and adhered it to the slimline card base. I then placed the white panel with the puppies on top and voilà!! This is how this simple yet colourful project was done.  I hope you like it and that you feel inspired to create with this cute stamp set!

See you next time

Monica with love!!!
