Hello, friends! Rubeena here from A Rare Ruby. This month’s theme on the Studio Katia Blog is under the sea or summer cards. I’m a big fan of underwater themes so I was excited to play with Under the Sea.
I started by stamping several of the images with a Copic-friendly black dye ink and colored with Copic markers. I die-cut them using the Under the Sea Coordinating Dies.
I like adding dots to give it a more textured look. White dots definitely make images pop so I added them to the jellyfish.
For the background, I used blue-green shades of Copic markers on Yupo translucent paper. The amazing thing about Yupo paper is that it’s synthetic so the colors do not get absorbed like regular cardstock. If you keep mixing or adding colors over one another, you can get unique looks. Another option would be to use alcohol inks or Copic marker refills to get a messy underwater look.
I die-cut a large oval from Dotted Ovals Creative Dies and used the frame over the background. I glued it all to a white base and then added the images with foam tape.
The sentiment was heat-embossed in white on black cardstock. I trimmed it down and added it below my scene. There are so many different ways to create an underwater theme. My fabulous teammates have been sharing all month long on the blog and social media so I hope you’ve been feeling inspired to create some of your own.
Thanks so much for stopping by!

Cute card. Love the fun images. I really like the card design. I have to remember the circle and layout.
So super cute!
An under-water sensation in every way! I had no idea that adding dots could have such impact…something to keep in mind when I colour my images from this set.
