Hello Everyone! Today is the day! The New Release is here.
Erica here to start the New Release Blog Hop.
Christmas in September? Eh, why not? A crafty girl will need to prepare well in advance to have all the cards made in time she plans on sending. Especially if she wants to play around with some fabulous new stamps. It’s a win-win situation really when you think about it.
Today I focused on the Christmas tree stamp from the Origami-Winter set but wanted to create a Christmassy outdoor scene rather than an indoor one. My idea was to do a one-layer card but it ended up being layered anyway. Oh well, it happens!
I started with an A2 sized Neenah White Exact Index 110lb card stock and stamped up several trees in green distress ink and coloured those in with my Copic markers. On another one I stamped up several more to be fussy cut out and layered on the card. Back on the first piece, I drew a mountain with the warm grey shades and a blue sky behind them. Lots of colouring and blending happening here.
For a wintery feel I used the little dot stamps from ‘Happy Snowflakes Clear Stamp Set‘ to make it look like it was snowing. I used my anti-static powder tool all over the image and then stamped several, several times with VersaMark before I sprinkled WOW puffy powder all over it and finally, activating it with the heat gun. It didn’t puff up as much as I wanted but maybe that’s because the paper was so saturated with copic colours? I don’t know? Any ideas? Anyway, as it was snowing in the background I figured the trees had to be covered in it too. That’s logical, right? I used a VersaMark pen on the tips of the trees and then quickly (quickly being the imperative word here, it dried sooo fast!) dipped them in the puff powder and heat embossed them.
With all the trees coloured, fussy cut and covered with snow, it was time to put the card together. I put all the trees on and trimmed off the excess bits sticking out. The ‘Let it snow’ sentiment was perfect for this snowy card so I stamped that on a thin piece of vellum and adhered that and once that was on, I decided to stop there. This card doesn’t exactly scream ‘Merry Christmas’ and to be honest, is way too time consuming to make loads of but it’s perfect for that special, certain someone with a sweet message inside. Maybe with a promise of staying in with hot cocoa, whipped cream and chocolate chip cookies.. And some extra sugar? *wink wink*
