Classic Origami Winter Card

October 12, 2016 / CATEGORIES - Cards, Winter Holidays

img_7205-1

Hello Friends,

Valentyna here today and I am sharing this traditional Christmas card, I made using another wonderful stamp set  Origami Winter. Absolutely enjoyed creating this card. The process wasn’t quick. I stamped many times gifts and stars with Versa Fine Onyx Black ink onto Neenah Solar White 80lb paper. Then I colored and cut every element, to be able to put them all onto an embossed white panel.

img_7203-1

For the sentiment, I chose “happy holidays” saying from the same stamp set. I simply embossed it with Hero Arts white embossing powder on SSS black card stock. To finish my card, I added some Classic Christmas Sequins here and there.

Origami Holidays

October 6, 2016 / CATEGORIES - Cards, New Release

Hi there Svitlana here quickly popping in to share a holiday card I made using Origami Winter stamp set.

The moment I saw this set I knew I wanted to color these origami images in holiday colors.

So I did. Stamped background using stamps from this set onto a Neenah Solar White panel. Memento Tuxedo Black ink was used for stamping, as this ink is COPIC-friendly.svvitlana-shayevich-studio-katia-origami-01

Next I colored all images with my COPICs. I choose two shades of green, red and gray to color different parts of origami. And some I left uncolored, in order not to make it too busy.

svitlana-shayevich-studio-katia-origami-02

I cut a stitched rectangle out of the panel using die from MFT Blueprints 29. Next I adhered my origami panel to an A2 top folding red card base using adhesive foam squares. I didn’t much volume on a card (like no volume at all) and wanted to add some interest raising it with dimensional adhesive. To finish off my card I added a white embossed sentiment on a stripe of black cardstock and called it a day.

svitlana-shayevich-studio-katia-origami-03

This card is not very typical for me. Too much COPICs coloring, usually I don’t do it. So colorful and design is not mine I should say. I’m glad that somehow I did it. Don’t have many of such in my stash ?

Thank you so much for joining me today! Have a wonderful day!

To a Special Teacher

October 5, 2016 / CATEGORIES - Back To School Cards, Cards

Hello friends, Valentyna here today with watercolor background card.
Today is an International Teacher’s Day and I have a chance to share card, I made using  Teacher’s Apple Clear Stamp Set.

img_7562
I really like an apple and the many ways it can be used, but my favorite part is sentiment, actually, font. It does fit perfectly the stamp theme.

I started my card off by a die-cutting watercolor panel and note tag. Then I stamped apples and A’s.  For coloring, I used Distress Fired Brick and Peeled Paint inks, and a little bit off Broken China. The note tag I adhered with 3D foam to watercolored panel. Red sequins to finish.

You’re a Good Apple

October 3, 2016 / CATEGORIES - Back To School Cards, Cards

Hello everyone!

Erica here and I couldn’t be happier to share a couple of cards with you all! I hope you are as excited as I am about this new release. Let’s get to it, shall we?

image1

Today I’m sharing two cards I made with the new Teacher’s Apple stamp set and the stitched Stitched Duo Speech Bubble Creative Die. These are so cute and that stamp set? It’s such a darling. As soon as I saw that apple, I knew I would use it over and over. And I really have! 19 times for these two cards alone. Oh yes, 19. I counted.

I wanted to different looks for these cards whilst using the apple as the focus. I also wanted to watercolour again. As always, I started out by cutting out two A2 sized stitched rectangles with the Lawn Fawn die cuts in water colour paper. Next, I stamped three rows of four apples on one panel in VersaMark ink and heat embossed them with Ranger Ink white embossing powder. My idea was to have two apples in a different colour to the rest and they were going to say ‘To a Special Teacher‘ and ‘You’re a Good Apple’ to each other. Super corny but cute, right? What teacher wouldn’t like that?

image007

Once all the apples were stamped and heat embossed, I die cut the new Stitched Duo Speech Bubble Creative Dies and measured it on the card to make sure it would fit. The two middle bottom row apples ended up being the best fit, or actually the only fit as it turned out. That could have been a craft-disaster! The two chosen apples got faces stamped and I decided they would be green and the rest red. I got the ZIG Gansai Tambi 36 Colours out and coloured away to my hearts content. I kept the colouring quite loose on the apples to make them look natural.

image005

While the first one was drying, I started on the second card. I already had my panel cut and ready to go. To start, I stamped a few apples to look like they had been stacked up in a big harvest pile on the base of the panel and I heat embossed those, again using white embossing powder. Then I stamped out another few using distress inks in reds and green to do some no-line colouring. These apples were then fussy cut and piled on top of the others using foam tape to raise them up from the others.

image011In the top left corner I stamped the ‘You’re a good’ sentiment in black and the ‘apple’ bit in red to make it pop. I debated long and hard over sequins or not on these cards and usually I’m all for them. However, I kept these sequin-free (shock horror!!) mostly to challenge myself to not be such a one-trick pony with my embellishments. If I make more of these cards, I will probably add a few…. Just one or two… Or five..

Before I loose the plot completely, I’m going to say bye for now with a full picture and I hope that these cards have inspired you to get this set or try one of these techniques. image015

See you soon!

Erica

Halloween Shaker

September 29, 2016 / CATEGORIES - Cards, Halloween, New Release, Shaker Cards

Hi there!

Svitlana here and today I want to share a fun Halloween shaker card I made using fun supplies. I filled it with candy corn, googly eyes and sequins fusion.

1svitlana-shayevich-studio-katia-trick-or-treat-01

To start off I made die cuts with Stitched Loops die out of white, yellow and orange cardstock for the outer part and black cardstock for insides.
Next stamped and colored many candy corns using a stamp from Spooky Duo set.

svitlana-shayevich-studio-katia-trick-or-treat-02

I embossed a white panel using an impression plate and started assembling the shaker. The dimensional part of which I made multi colored, as the candy corn is. There you can find white, then yellow and finally orange layer. I put candy corns into the top section of the shaker, googly eyes into the middle (these eyes are so tiny and adorable) and  sequins fusion into the bottom.

I adhered my panel onto a black card base, adding strips of the same orange and yellow cardstock on the bottom. It kind of put the whole design together.
To finish off my card I added a sentiment, white embossed on a stripe of black cardstock and several sequins.

svitlana-shayevich-studio-katia-trick-or-treat-03

If you follow me for a while you may notice that I don’t do many fun cards. Neither I do many shakers. I don’t even know why. But they’re so much fun to make!
My hubby, who dislikes Halloween by the way, when saw this card told me that it was so cool. I don’t hear it from him very often lol. Not because he doesn’t like my cards, he likes all of them by default. But I think the interactive element of this one made him to express some extra emotions ?

Thank You All!

Svitlana

One Smarty Pants

September 28, 2016 / CATEGORIES - Back To School Cards, Cards, New Release

Hello everyone,
Valentyna here popping up to share a card featuring new stamp set – Smarty Pants. This set has a bunch of small images which are great for making a background.
I chose Wplus9 Fairy Dust ink to make a subtle stamping on the card base with different images. Separately, I stamped pants with Memento Tuxedo black ink onto copic paper.

img_7568

Then I added a pocket and colored everything with copics. I stamped sentiment and placed pants on 3D foam tape onto prepared card base. To finish off my card, I added few sequins in matching colors. Clean and simple. Fast and enjoyable!

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

New Release Blog Hop+Giveaways!

September 27, 2016 / CATEGORIES - Cards, New Release, News

Hello Everyone! Today is the day! The New Release is here.

Erica here to start the New Release Blog Hop.

Christmas in September? Eh, why not? A crafty girl will need to prepare well in advance to have all the cards made in time she plans on sending. Especially if she wants to play around with some fabulous new stamps. It’s a win-win situation really when you think about it.

letitsnowericacard2x-100

Today I focused on the Christmas tree stamp from the Origami-Winter set but wanted to create a Christmassy outdoor scene rather than an indoor one. My idea was to do a one-layer card but it ended up being layered anyway. Oh well, it happens!

image009

I started with an A2 sized Neenah White Exact Index 110lb card stock and stamped up several trees in green distress ink and coloured those in with my Copic markers. On another one I stamped up several more to be fussy cut out and layered on the card. Back on the first piece, I drew a mountain with the warm grey shades and a blue sky behind them. Lots of colouring and blending happening here.

image005For a wintery feel I used the little dot stamps from ‘Happy Snowflakes Clear Stamp Set‘ to make it look like it was snowing. I used my anti-static powder tool all over the image and then stamped several, several times with VersaMark before I sprinkled WOW puffy powder all over it and finally, activating it with the heat gun. It didn’t puff up as much as I wanted but maybe that’s because the paper was so saturated with copic colours? I don’t know? Any ideas? Anyway, as it was snowing in the background I figured the trees had to be covered in it too. That’s logical, right? I used a VersaMark pen on the tips of the trees and then quickly (quickly being the imperative word here, it dried sooo fast!) dipped them in the puff powder and heat embossed them.

With all the trees coloured, fussy cut and covered with snow, it was time to put the card together. I put all the trees on and trimmed off the excess bits sticking out. The ‘Let it snow’ sentiment was perfect for this snowy card so I stamped that on a thin piece of vellum and adhered that and once that was on, I decided to stop there. This card doesn’t exactly scream ‘Merry Christmas’ and to be honest, is way too time consuming to make loads of but it’s perfect for that special, certain someone with a sweet message inside. Maybe with a promise of staying in with hot cocoa, whipped cream and chocolate chip cookies.. And some extra sugar? *wink wink*

Celebrate Autumn

September 26, 2016 / CATEGORIES - Cards

Hello everyone!!  It’s Laurie here with my first ever blog post for Studio Katia!!  The announcement hasn’t been made yet, but yes, I’m thrilled to be a part of this team!!  I know the sky’s the limit for these great products!  The sequins alone are worth a million bucks but Kat has added some amazing new stamps and dies…to be released tomorrow in fact!!!

For my project, I decided to use the Stitched Nested Creative Rectangles die set.  I chose this set because it fit my digi image to perfection!! This die is so large! It covers enough of your cardbase that you don’t really need to add anything else…LOVE THAT!!

The “celebrate” stamp and sequins are a sneak peek of what’s to come 🙂
Hope you enjoyed!! Thanks for stopping and by and be sure to visit us tomorrow for the NEW RELEASE BLOG HOP!!!

Sneak Peek: Last Day

September 25, 2016 / CATEGORIES - Cards, New Release, Sneak Peek

Hi everyone, Kristina here and it’s our last day for sneak peeks. The Release will be available on Tuesday September 27.
Today I’m using new Creative Die Set and Clear Stamp Set from the new release. I used the apple and along with the sentiment from the Teacher’s Apple Set, I used Vesafine Onyx Black Ink to stamp the images and colored the apple using Zig Clean Real Brush Markers in shades of Carmine Red and Light Green.

dsc_6091sk

I cut out the apple using scissors. To add more glitter and shine I used Wink of Stella Clear brush.

dsc_6094777

For the base I decided to use a craft paper, I’ve also added a panel with red holographic card stock. Using foam squares for more dimension I’ve added the Stitched Notebook panel and the apple.

Thank You all for stopping by and see you next time.

Kristina
