Poinsettia on vellum with Kaja

November 25, 2020 / CATEGORIES - Cards, CAS, Floral Cards, Winter Holidays

Hi there,

It’s Kaja from Kajcyika crafts and today I created a card with a technique I haven’t used in a while. Can you guess which one?

Take a look:

I started making this card by stamping out the Poinsettia trimmings stamp on a piece of vellum. Since vellum doesn’t really absorb the ink and it takes for ever to dry, I put some clear embossing powder over the stamped image and heat set it. I made sure that I was using a very thick vellum that doesn’t worp a lot when being heat set.

After preparing the stamped image, I started coloring it on the back side of the vellum. You could do it on the either side, but I wanted to have a really soft colors so I decided to color on the back. I used two shades of red and a green alcohol markers to do so. Once the image was colored in, I decided to trim around it using my scissors. I felt like something was missing, so I added some white gel pen details which make the finished image more interesting.

Next, I put a piece of dark red cardstock on the background on which I draw a white edge using a white gel pen. I then glued the vellom piece on to the background using liquid glue. Since there is many things going on, you can bearly see the glue that I used. My only recomendation here would be to make sure that you are putting the glue directly over the colored part, since the liquid glue applied directly on the clear vellum can show quite a lot.

The last thing I added was the sentiment and this time I went with a simple ‘Merry Christmas’. I used the Chunky alphabet dies for the word ‘Merry’ and then I embossed the word ‘Christmas’ from the Poinsettia trimmings stamp set directly into the background using white embossing powder. I used white color for both words to ensure enough contrast on my card.

I then glued everything together using liquid glue and the card was finished in no time!

Thank you so much for joining me!

Quick and Easy Card Mini Series PT 3

October 10, 2020 / CATEGORIES - CAS, Floral Cards

Hey lovelies, Tracy here with my third part of the quick and easy card series. Part 2 can be found here.

This is probably the quickest card of the whole series but I wanted to show that outline stamps don’t have to be coloured in.

IMG-5447

I used the You’re So Sweet stamp set and using one of the floral images I stamped randomally all over some card, I then used one of the leaf stamps to fill in any gaps. If you are doing this then make sure to make it look natural that you stamp some off the edge of the card.

Once I was happy I used the Scallop Hearts Cover outer die to die cut the piece out and stamped a sentiment. I then used some twine around the top of the card for texture and adhered the whole panel onto a Kraft card base and finished off with some Majestic Fushion Sequins.

This sort of card is fantastic if you have a lot of cards to make, you can totally mix the colours up and its suitable for so many occasions. It also gives your outline stamps another great way to be used.

Don’t be afraid to mix it up and use coloured embossing powders or metallic ink pads, there really is so many options you can use.

If you feel your card is lacking then use a slighly facnier die like I have.

I hope you have enjoyed the mini series so far, please let me know if you want me to create some more cards for it, or is there another mini series you’d like to see ?

Thanks for stopping by today, I hope you have an amazing day. Happy Crafting.

Happy Wednesday Friends, Ilda here!

I am back today with a few Thanksgiving Inspiration Cards. Even though 2020 has been such a terrible year for all of us around the world, there is still so much to be thankful for.

CARD DETAILS

I began these cards by stamping out the images from the AUTUMN BORDERS stamp set (which by the way is currently on sale if you are interested). I used VersaFine Onyx Ink and then heat set it with a clear embossing powder so that I could do some really easy water coloring using Karin Brushmarkers.

Once the images were dry I die cut them out using the coordinating AUTUMN BORDERS DIES. Under each die-cut, I left enough room to add a sentiment from the AUTUMN BORDERS set and then trimmed excess paper underneath.

I then popped up the strips using foam tape and attached them to these beautiful backgrounds and finished them off by adding some pearls. On this card, I used the AMETHYST PEARLS.

To create these beautiful backgrounds, I used the MINI ARCS STENCIL, and I created my own gold paste (because I didn’t have any) by mixing Platinum Embellishment Mousse with a little bit of Solar Flare Shimmer Powder.

Doesn’t the pattern remind you of acorn tops? Such a pretty design and I just love the texture this paste created.

To finish off this card I added WINE BERRY PEARLS.  Love how these cards turned out!

Floral kindness with Kaja

September 29, 2020 / CATEGORIES - Cards, Floral Cards

Hi there,

It’s Kaja from Kajcyika crafts and today I made a floral kindness card!

Take a look:

First, I stamped out the Flourishing note stamp set twice. Usually I would color the floral images with watercolors, but this time I decided to use a new technique – no blend alcohol marker coloring. For each bloom, I used three colors of the same color family and createad an ombre look. I made sure that the colors are different enough that you can see that they aren’t blended together.

Once the images were colored in, I decided that I will only use a floral poriton of the stamped image. This shows, that most of the stamps can be used in many different ways, not just as a whole image!

Then, I die cut a beautiful white frame using the scalloped die from Dotted patterns 4 set. I knew that the floral images will be bold that’s why I picked white for the frame. For the backdrop, I looked for a patterned paper to match the colors and used it behind the frame.

The last thing I added was a sentiment from Kind bouquet stamp set that reads ‘Spread kindness’. The word Kindness also has a coordinating die that die cuts the word beautifully and adds a clean finishing detail.

In the end, I glued everything together using Studio Katia glue and tape.

Thank you so much for joining me!

I adhered the image onto my background panel using double-sided foam tape. I die cut out the word Hello out of golden glittered cardstock using CHUNKY ALPHABET Creative Dies and adhered the letters in the middle of the clear window using double-sided foam tape.

Simple floral hello card with Kaja

September 14, 2020 / CATEGORIES - Cards, CAS, Floral Cards, Hello Cards

Hi there,

It’s Kaja from Kajcyika crafts and I must admit that I haven’t been making much cards lately, so today I decided to make a card for my soul — a watercolored floral card.

Take s look:

I started by stamping out a floral image from Aloha stamp set on a piece of watercolor paper. Then, I used ZIG watercolor markers to color in the image. I made sure that I left the shadows dark and the highlights bright. I used purple and red for the blooms and green for the leaves.

Once the image was colored, I went ahead and added some white details using white gel pen. The image seemed to big for a standard card base, so I quickly cut it in the middle which got me two parts of the stamped image. I glued it one over the other to get to a nice tall image.

Next, I added a black strip of paper to the left hand-side of the card and embelished it with a white line across its left side. To corespond with the black, I added the sentiment that reads ‘Hello my friend’ from the same Aloha stamp set.

I put the flowers down using double sided tape and liquid glue. I felt like I needed some more color so I added the purple dots that I put on a card using the Embellisment wand!

The card was all finished in no time, so now the only thing left to do is to send it out.

Happy Thoughts Mixed Media Card with Isha Gupta

September 7, 2020 / CATEGORIES - Cards, CAS, Floral Cards

Hello everyone! Isha here with you today with a mixed media card. I just got this Japanese Peony Stamp and it inspired me to create the card 🙂

I started by applying some distress inks to the mat layer, let it dry. I then applied embossing paste through the Honey Comb stencil. Sprinkle WOW! Rose Glintz and Bleutiful embossing powder while the paste is still wet. Heat emboss. Apply some white acrylic paint to parts of the background. Stamp and emboss the beautiful floral and a few extra leaves onto vellum. Adhere to the card.

Stamp the sentiment onto a watercolor paper stripe and add a touch of cracked pistachio distress ink. adhere to the card using 3d foam. To finish, add some Icy Sparkle Crystals and Iridescent bubbles tiny. Thank you for dropping by! Have a nice day and stay safe!

Quick and Easy Cards Mini Series with Tracy

August 24, 2020 / CATEGORIES - Cards, Floral Cards

Hey lovelies, Tracy here with you today.

Im going through the moving process at the moment but I still needed some cards so I decided to do a mini series of super quick and easy cards that anyone can create along with some hints and tips.

One of the most common things I see crafters, especially new crafters talk about struggling with is watercolouring, and I get you it is a scary thing to think about. BUT it is probably one of the most fun things to work with and can also be the most insanely easy mediums to colour with, once you realise that it doesnt have to be detailed and can be just a simple wash like this card.

IMG-5449

This was as simple as adding some colours to a glass matt along with water and them smooshing some watercolour card over the top, I let it dry after one later and then added another. Once it was fully dry I used the Flourishing Note stamp set and stamped over the top and then die cut the panel out using theDotted Patterns Set 1.

If you want to add a little something extra to your simple cards try using a coloured card base, I love the look of Kraft card so used that for this one, I also adhered the panel using foam tape to add some dimension and then finished off with some Majestic sequins and some gold gel pen details.

The reason this technique is great for beginners is it allows you to see how watercolour reacts and it also gives you chance to work with the colours and just get a good feel.

It is also a technique you just cannot go wrong with it.

IMG-5448

I hope you like the card and really encourage anyone who hasnt to try this technique, you can also use water reactive inkpads or any water based mediums.

Thank you for stopping by today, I hope you have an amazing day.

Happy Crafting.

Love You Lots with Emily

August 20, 2020 / CATEGORIES - Cards, Floral Cards, Shaker Cards, Winners

Happy Thursday! Today’s feel-good card features the Chunky Alphabet die set and the Flourishing Note stamp set. I love alphabet dies so it’s only natural to fall in love with this die set. They’re the perfect size for customizing sentiments that take centre stage on a card.

I started by lining up Chunky Alphabet dies to spell out the words and cutting them from the front panel. I used a ruler to draw lines in pencil to help me space out the three lines. After all the letters were die cut from the panel, I erased the pencil lines.

On the second panel, I stamped, heat embossed and watercoloured the Flourishing Note stamp set. The finished piece was so lovely that it was hard to cover up with the die cut panel. I think I will have to make another one just like this and let it shine!

I smooshed several mini distress ink pads on to an acrylic block, sprayed it with water and smooshed it on to the front panel for a light wash of colour. After it dried completely, I added an acetate sheet and popped it up with foam tape to create a shaker behind the word YOU. I combined Luminous Lavender Fusion, Mallow Crystals and Vanilla Luster Fusion sequins, and purposely left out the centres of the Os to allow the beautiful flowers to show through.

Please visit me on my blog, Instagram and YouTube channel for more inspiration. Thanks so much for stopping by!

Video. Dawn scene shaker card

August 11, 2020 / CATEGORIES - Cards, Floral Cards, Hello Cards, Shaker Cards

Hello everyone! It’s Galina and I have for a beautiful dawn scene shaker card. I used a FANCY SQUARE die set, which is on sale now and fabolous floral stamp set – Together we bloom.

How I made this card you can watch here or on Studio Katia channel

To color those flowers I use a watercolor paints. I applied a dark blue paint on the bottom of each petal and a dark purple color on the top. I blend those color with water and add white splashes. I cut out the flowers with coordinating dies and placed them behind the black frame. Using fancy square dies I cut out one more frame from the gold glitter cardstock.

I fill the shaker base with black crystals and seed beads with beautiful name – gold dust, they made perfect combo for the dawn shaker card.

I cut out one more square panel from the dark blue cardstock in size of 5 inch and I’m attaching the shaker base on it.

Thanks so much for stopping by.
