Happy Boo-day by Tracey

October 9, 2020 / CATEGORIES - Autumn/Fall Cards, Cards, Halloween, Shaker Cards

Hey there crafty peeps! I have a couple of friends who have a birthday right around Halloween, so it’s always fun to make a Halloween inspired birthday card for them each year.

I have a slimline card today that could be a birthday card or it could be a just a Halloween card. I cut two panels of Bristol Smooth cardstock using the large rectangle from the Dotted Slimline Set 1 dies. Using the Birthday Balloons Duo Stencil I ink blended balloons of different sizes on the panel using the Studio Katia Blending Brushes. I used Wilted Violet, Mowed Lawn, Spiced Marmalade and Black Soot Distress Oxide inks. The panel was adhered to a 3 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ card base in landscape format.

Using the second panel of Bristol Smooth cardstock I ink blended with Twisted Citron, Moved Lawn and Black Soot Distress Oxide ink. I cut the panel using the large oval from the Dotted Slimline Set 1 dies. Then I backed the opening with acetate to make a shaker window. Using Studio Katia Black Double Sided Foam Tape I made a double thickness well around the shaker window. Then I added some Studio Katia Spooky Satin Confetti onto the centre of the balloons on the card base. I spread them out a bit with my fingers so they weren’t stacked up too much. I removed the tape baking from the top panel and secured it over the card base securing the shaker.

The ‘happy’ sentiment from the Happy Celebrations stamp set was white embossed onto a strip of black cardstock cut from the Halftone Lines Cover die, this die is a staple in my craft room. I love that it cuts so many line widths all with a perfect rounded edge. I adhered it on an angle above the oval.

I cut my punny sentiment from the Studio Katia Chunky Alphabet dies with purple sparkly cardstock and I adhered it to the centre of the clear window with Studio Katia Glue. A little trick I use to when I have a sentiment made up of individual letters to keep them spaced out evenly, I lay them on to my work surface and I picked them all up using a strip of purple tape. Then I can flip it over, add liquid glue to the backs of the letters and then put it on to my project exactly where I want it to do. I leave it until the glue dries and then remove the purple tape. Works like a charm.

Hope you enjoyed making a card with me today. A Halloween inspired card made with just a birthday balloon stencil, alphabet dies and a bit of ink. Thanks for dropping in and have a great day!

Halloween card with Olga

October 3, 2020 / CATEGORIES - Cards, Halloween

Hello friends! It’s Olga and I have a Halloween shaker card to share with you.

To create my Halloween scene, I stamped the cute little cat in a witches’ hat with different elements from the MEOWY HALLOWEEN and die cut them using MEOWY HALLOWEEN DIES. I then colored the images using Copic Markers.

Next, I created the background. I ink blended purple shades for the top panel of the shaker and orange shades for the backdrop of the shaker. To add some shine, I sprinkled all the elements with gold acrylic paint.

The next step was to die cut all the pieces for the shaker card. I first die cut the larger frame from the DOTTED SLIMLINE – SET 2. Next, I die cut the center of the panel using the oval dotted frame from the DOTTED SLIMLINE – SET 1. Behind the slimline panel, I glued a piece of acetate cut large enough to cover the window. To line the perimeter of the oval opening I used DOUBLE SIDED FOAM TAPE – BLACK that I cut to about half of the width.

I then filled the shaker with NEON TANGERINE CRYSTALS, WICKED sequins and GOLD DUST seed beads to the center of the orange panel and carefully lined up the front panel to create the shaker. I adhered previously prepared images on the card.

To finish off this slimline card I die cut a BOO sentiment using CHUNKY ALPHABET dies and then attached it to the card.

I hope this card inspired you today. Thank you for stopping by and until next time.

Halloween Shaker Card with Dana

September 28, 2020 / CATEGORIES - Autumn/Fall Cards, Cards, Halloween, Shaker Cards

Happy Monday, Studio Katia friends!

It’s Dana here and I hope you had a wonderful weekend. Today, I’m sharing a Halloween shaker card and let’s get started!

To begin, I die cut three circles from white card stock for card base and stamping and one circle from black card stock for window. I die cut one more from Acetate Sheets as well. For this step, I used big circle die from Halftone Dots Circle Dies.

I then die cut black one again with Fancy Circle and adhered them on acetate circle one using Glue.

Next, I stamped Spooky Pumpkins Trimmings in black and colored images in with Alcohol markers. I cut this trimmings using scissors and glued it on right back of acetate panel.

For background, I ink blended it using Distress Oxide Inks and stamped small spider webs from Meowy Halloween.

I mixed Storm Cloud Pearls, Mallow Crystals and Royal Purple Crystals and built a shaker using Double Sided Foam Tape (Black). Then, I mounted a shaker onto card base I made in previous step.

To finish, I stamped a sentiment from Meowy Halloween in silver and trimmed it using craft knife.

That’s it for today! Thank you so much for stopping by and happy crafting!

See through die cut sentiment

September 18, 2020 / CATEGORIES - Halloween, Hello Cards

Hello friends! It’s Galina and I have a pretty spooky card to share with you. For this technique I’ll need a kind of a border die with pattern, in my case the pattern is a spooky sentiment – Halloween trimmings.

How I made this card you can watch here or on Studio Katia Youtube channel.

I started by cutting out the sentiment directly on the front of the white card base. I placed slightly at an angle and run the card base with die throught my die cuutting machine. Next I cut out a same sentiment on the white card panel. I applied few purple inks on the card panel and them applied black ink throuth the Bubbles Stencil.

Using both dies from the DOTTED PATTERNS SET 4 set I cut out a frame from the bright green cardstock. I foam mount it on the panel. Also I used two small stamps from MEOWY HALLOWEEN Stamp set to crete pumkins, I stamped them with a brown ink on the orange cardstock and I cut out a scrary faces using dies from the  coordinating set. I found in my stash two copic colored pumkins and decided to use them too. I stamped them some time ago with a black memento ink.

I glued pumpkins on the card base and heat embossed the rest of the sentiment. I combined two different stamp sets to create a phrase “Have a spooky day”. n autumn I love to create an occasional cards with Halloween theme.

Well Hey, Boo!

Ilda, here. Today I have a special little card for you! Not only is this little pumpkin adorable, it is also interactive and lights up for the recipient. How fun is that?! I am so addicted to these new to me EZ-lights that I’m sure you will be seeing a lot more of these light-up cards in the future!

CARD DETAILS

Here is how I made this card:

  • Die-cut 2 HALF STRIPED COVER frames, one orange, and one purple.
  • Rotate one Striped Cover over the other 90 degrees and glue together onto a white card panel.
  • Die-cut the top, bottom, and frame pieces for the pumpkin using the SHAKER PUMPKIN DIES
  • Glue the bottom of the pumpkin onto the center of the card panel.
  • Punch a hole through both the card panel and the pumpkin base (somewhere where it won’t be seen from the face openings.
  • Add vellum behind the pumpkin face and add foam tape to the outer edges of the pumpkin’s face.

  • Thread the EZ-Light wire from behind the panel through the hole you punched through the panel.
  • Tape down each EZ-Light so that the light is able to shine through the vellum areas of the pumpkin’s face. ( I taped them behind the top orange pumpkin layer)
  • Line up the pumpkin’s face with the back layer and adhere them together with the foam tape.
  • Glue down the pumpkin’s frame around the pumpkin.
  • Insert the battery and tape down the EZ-Light push button behind the area you want the recipient to push down on. Test the push area.
  • Tape the excess wires to the pack of the card panel, leaving room along with the edges to add foam around the border.

  • Attach to the card base.
  • Die-cut the letters from glitter craft foam using the CHUNKY ALPHABET and arrange and press onto the card front.
  • Instead of writing push or press on the area, I used the Miss You stamp from the SWEET HEART CANDY.
  • To finish, embellish with your favorite bling. (I used RIPE PERSIMMON PEARLS and AMETHYST PEARLS).

Now let’s see how cool it looks when you light it up!

Happy Halloween!

October 10, 2019 / CATEGORIES - Halloween

Hi there! Emily Midgett here with you today. It finally feels like fall around here (hooray!) and so I thought a little pumpkin patch card was appropos. My kiddos love roaming around the pumpkin patch, spending (a somewhat ridiculous amount of) time finding the “perfect” pumpkin for carving. The happy little jack-o-lantern faces in the Spooky Pumpkin Trimmings stamp set reminded me of our porch after the guts have been scooped and the faces carved! Let’s get started with the details.

I began by stamping the happier of the two Spooky Pumpkin Trimmings stamps on the bottom of a white, Copic-friendly panel of A2 cardstock using Copic-friendly black ink. I then used my Copic markers to color the pumpkins, ghosties, and candy corn.

Once I had finished coloring the images, I used some blending brushes and two different shades of blue ink to blend a sky in the background.

I used the Halloween Trimmings dies to die cut a greeting. (Love how the curves of the die cut coordinate with the curves of the stamped image!) I backed it with some black cardstock to make the greeting really pop.

Well, that’s all for me today! Thanks so much for dropping by today, and have a marvelous day!

Spooky Pumpkins Trimmings with Liliuska

October 4, 2019 / CATEGORIES - Cards, Halloween

Hello Everyone! Liliuska here and I have a black&white Halloween card to share today. I wanted to make a card with no colouring to show that the SPOOKY PUMPKINS TRIMMINGS set looks great and can be used without spending time on colouring. And the chalkboard technique is great for a quick and great looking card.

To make the card I grabbed a black card base and a black panel. On the card base I stamped images of buildings from WHIMSICAL TOWN stamp set. I stamped three times using white ink and MISTI. This way I got nice white lines without embossing. To add a bit more detail to that background I added some white splashes using White Wink of Stella. I love the look it creates.

I heat embossed one of the pumpkin border images from the SPOOKY PUMPKINS TRIMMINGS stamp set on the black panel with white embossing powder. You can repeat stamping and heat embossing few times to get thicker lines. Next I shifted my panel slightly in the MISTI and stamped with white ink. Before it dried I smudged the ink all over the panel with my finger (yes, I love using my fingers with this technique!). I added more white ink blending around the stamped image. As a final touch I added some lines with white pencil and some sparkly splatters. I used black Wink of Stella, but forgot how absorbent that chalkboard background becomes. I still like all the sparkle it added to the panel.

I die cut out a Happy Halloween sentiment with one of the dies from HALLOWEEN TRIMMINGS DIES and cut the bottom of the panel off using a die from TRIMMINGS BORDER die set. Next, I added white ink border on both the card base and the panel. Finally, I foam mounted the panel with pumpkins onto the card base and embellished the bottom of the card with lots of ONYX CRYSTALS.

Hope this card inspired you to play with your stamps more and try yourself in chalkboard technique. It’s one of my favourite techniques and if you are not afraid of getting your fingers dirty, you will surely enjoy it!

Have a great weekend!

Spiderweb Halloween Shaker Card with Ilda

October 3, 2019 / CATEGORIES - Cards, Halloween, Shaker Cards

Happy Thursday Friends, Ilda here!

This week the Studio Katia Design Team has been showcasing Halloween Inspiration Cards. If you missed them click here to see more fun projects shared by our creative team.

For my card, I started off by laying the SPIDER-WEB STENCIL onto the background panel and then used a watermark ink to stamp over the entire area. I then removed the stencil and sprinkled it using black embossing powder to heat set the background.

Next, I die cut the center of the panel using the SPIDER WEB SHAKER die and then used a piece of an ACETATE SHEET to create the window for the shaker.

For the Happy Halloween that is die-cut on the inside of the shaker, I used the HALLOWEEN TRIMMINGS DIES and did some partial die cutting onto a piece of white cardstock that I then later blended out some distress oxide colors onto using the new INK BLENDER BRUSHES.

I then glued a few RIPE PERSIMMON PEARLS onto the shaker area and then added some SPOOKY SATIN CONFETTI to the center before gluing on the top panel to close in the shaker area.

To finish off the card, I stamped out the pumpkins from the MEOWY HALLOWEEN set, colored them in with Copics and then fussy cut them as I didn’t have the coordinating dies. I then added some cute  GOOGLY EYES to them and then glued them to the card front. I also added a few more RIPE PERSIMMON PEARLS to embellish this fun card.

I hope this fun Spiderweb Halloween Shaker Card in”spider”ed you today!

Thank you for stopping by and until next time… Happy Crafting!

Hugs, Ilda

Pumpkin card with Galina

October 2, 2019 / CATEGORIES - Autumn/Fall Cards, Cards, Halloween, Hello Cards, New Release

Hello everyone! It’s Galina here. What do you think about alternative ways of using die sets? Sometimes I have crazy ideas like this one. I used

SIMPLE ROUND TAG and HALLOWEEN TRIMMINGS DIES to create a pumpkin face on my card 🙂
At first I made a “body”, I cut a card panel from watercolor paper and apply orange watercolor paint all over it, I add a lot of water to get nice orange gradient. After background is dry I add dark orange and brown stripes with a dry brush. Next I cut out a “smile” using order sentiment die and adhere a black stripe on a cardstock on the back of my card panel.
To create eyes I used two smaller dies from tag die set. I simply cut them from a brown cardstock and add a bit of shading with brown distress inks and blending brush.
To finish my pumpkin face I decided to add few leaves and swirls from another die set – SHAKER PUMPKIN DIES.
At last I attached the card panel on the green card base and my card is done.
Hope you like this idea 🙂
Have a great day!
