Shaped jewel crystal frames

December 29, 2020 / CATEGORIES - Cards, CAS, Floral Cards, Hello Cards

Hello everyone, it’s Galina.

Today im going to show you how to create shiny crystal frame using small dies and your favorite crystal embellishments.

How I made this card you can watch here or on Studio Katia’s Youtube chanel.

I cut out a white panel using Dotted die set 3. I applied few colors of ink on it. I used blender brushes to apply light shades of each color. If you want to get a brighter background – add a second layer of ink or apply inks with hard hand and pick a lot of ink on your brush.

Next I cut out 3 windows using a small hexagon die. Next I applied a small amount of liquid glue close to the cut edge and then placed the biggest crystals. I combined pink, green and blue transparent crystals.

I heat embossed flowers on a piece of vellum and attached it behind the card panel. I heat embossed a sentiment on the black cardstock and cut out with a coordinating stripe die. I foam mount it under the die cut windows.

Also, I listed below some other little dies, which you can use for this technique.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

See through die cut sentiment

September 18, 2020 / CATEGORIES - Halloween, Hello Cards

Hello friends! It’s Galina and I have a pretty spooky card to share with you. For this technique I’ll need a kind of a border die with pattern, in my case the pattern is a spooky sentiment – Halloween trimmings.

How I made this card you can watch here or on Studio Katia Youtube channel.

I started by cutting out the sentiment directly on the front of the white card base. I placed slightly at an angle and run the card base with die throught my die cuutting machine. Next I cut out a same sentiment on the white card panel. I applied few purple inks on the card panel and them applied black ink throuth the Bubbles Stencil.

Using both dies from the DOTTED PATTERNS SET 4 set I cut out a frame from the bright green cardstock. I foam mount it on the panel. Also I used two small stamps from MEOWY HALLOWEEN Stamp set to crete pumkins, I stamped them with a brown ink on the orange cardstock and I cut out a scrary faces using dies from the  coordinating set. I found in my stash two copic colored pumkins and decided to use them too. I stamped them some time ago with a black memento ink.

I glued pumpkins on the card base and heat embossed the rest of the sentiment. I combined two different stamp sets to create a phrase “Have a spooky day”. n autumn I love to create an occasional cards with Halloween theme.

Well Hey, Boo!

Ilda, here. Today I have a special little card for you! Not only is this little pumpkin adorable, it is also interactive and lights up for the recipient. How fun is that?! I am so addicted to these new to me EZ-lights that I’m sure you will be seeing a lot more of these light-up cards in the future!

CARD DETAILS

Here is how I made this card:

  • Die-cut 2 HALF STRIPED COVER frames, one orange, and one purple.
  • Rotate one Striped Cover over the other 90 degrees and glue together onto a white card panel.
  • Die-cut the top, bottom, and frame pieces for the pumpkin using the SHAKER PUMPKIN DIES
  • Glue the bottom of the pumpkin onto the center of the card panel.
  • Punch a hole through both the card panel and the pumpkin base (somewhere where it won’t be seen from the face openings.
  • Add vellum behind the pumpkin face and add foam tape to the outer edges of the pumpkin’s face.
Halloween, Light Up, EZ-Light Pack, Interactive Card, miss you, pumpkin,Studio Katia,Chunky Alphabet, Card Making, Stamping, Die Cutting, handmade card, ilovedoingallthingscrafty, Stamps, how to,
  • Thread the EZ-Light wire from behind the panel through the hole you punched through the panel.
  • Tape down each EZ-Light so that the light is able to shine through the vellum areas of the pumpkin’s face. ( I taped them behind the top orange pumpkin layer)
  • Line up the pumpkin’s face with the back layer and adhere them together with the foam tape.
  • Glue down the pumpkin’s frame around the pumpkin.
  • Insert the battery and tape down the EZ-Light push button behind the area you want the recipient to push down on. Test the push area.
  • Tape the excess wires to the pack of the card panel, leaving room along with the edges to add foam around the border.

  • Attach to the card base.
  • Die-cut the letters from glitter craft foam using the CHUNKY ALPHABET and arrange and press onto the card front.
  • Instead of writing push or press on the area, I used the Miss You stamp from the SWEET HEART CANDY.
  • To finish, embellish with your favorite bling. (I used RIPE PERSIMMON PEARLS and AMETHYST PEARLS).

Now let’s see how cool it looks when you light it up!

Simple floral hello card with Kaja

September 14, 2020 / CATEGORIES - Cards, CAS, Floral Cards, Hello Cards

Hi there,

It’s Kaja from Kajcyika crafts and I must admit that I haven’t been making much cards lately, so today I decided to make a card for my soul — a watercolored floral card.

Take s look:

I started by stamping out a floral image from Aloha stamp set on a piece of watercolor paper. Then, I used ZIG watercolor markers to color in the image. I made sure that I left the shadows dark and the highlights bright. I used purple and red for the blooms and green for the leaves.

Once the image was colored, I went ahead and added some white details using white gel pen. The image seemed to big for a standard card base, so I quickly cut it in the middle which got me two parts of the stamped image. I glued it one over the other to get to a nice tall image.

Next, I added a black strip of paper to the left hand-side of the card and embelished it with a white line across its left side. To corespond with the black, I added the sentiment that reads ‘Hello my friend’ from the same Aloha stamp set.

I put the flowers down using double sided tape and liquid glue. I felt like I needed some more color so I added the purple dots that I put on a card using the Embellisment wand!

The card was all finished in no time, so now the only thing left to do is to send it out.

Cards for Crafty Friends with Olga

September 12, 2020 / CATEGORIES - Cards, Hello Cards

Hello there!  Do you like making greeting cards for your crafty friends? Studio Katia has a lot of wonderful products for such type of cards. I decided to make two cards featuring ARTSY TRIMMINGS stamp set. Both cards were made in the same way, so I will describe the process once.

I started working on the background first. I die cut out two ovals using NESTED OVALS dies and ink blended one with Wilted Violet and Fossilized Amber Distress Oxide Inks and the other with Mermaid Lagoon Distress Ink and Fossilized Amber Distress Oxide Ink. I wanted to give my backgrounds a more original shape, so I cut a piece off the side of both ovals and got straight edges.

Next I wanted to add texture to the backgrounds. I used INK SPLASH STENCIL and Nuvo Glimmer Paste for that. I think this not only adds a fun sparkle to the background, but also highlights the crafty theme of the cards.

Next, I stamped the images  from the ARTSY TRIMMINGS set in black ink and colored them with Copic markers. I used the matching ARTSY TRIMMINGS DIES to die cut the images.

From there, I layered the backgrounds onto light gray card bases and adhered my images using DOUBLE SIDED FOAM TAPE – BLACK. I stamped a part of the sentiments I wanted to add on the white panel, right at the straight edge of my ovals.

I made the second part of the sentiments using words: Create ans Crafty, which I die cut out of the black cardstock. These words are included in the coordinating die set.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Add shine to your cards. Video

September 4, 2020 / CATEGORIES - Cards, Hello Cards

Hello everyone! It’s Galina and I want to share some simple tips how to make your card more interesting. We can forget about tiny details or totally forget about a full box of glitter in your stash, but using this kind of embellishments you can make your card pop!

How I made this card you can watch here or on Studio Katia Youtube channel.

For this card I used pretty clouds border dies. Imbellished them with different color chunky glitter. I adhere glitter using liquid glue from Studio Katia.

Using Elongated Dotted Hexagons – Creative Dies  I cut out a widow in the white panel. I placed my sky scene inside of it. I stamped two cute bees and colored them with alcohol markers, I foam mount bees on the card penel. To create a sentiment I used two letters dies from CHUNKY ALPHABET  and white glitter cardstock.

Video. Dawn scene shaker card

August 11, 2020 / CATEGORIES - Cards, Floral Cards, Hello Cards, Shaker Cards

Hello everyone! It’s Galina and I have for a beautiful dawn scene shaker card. I used a FANCY SQUARE die set, which is on sale now and fabolous floral stamp set – Together we bloom.

How I made this card you can watch here or on Studio Katia channel

To color those flowers I use a watercolor paints. I applied a dark blue paint on the bottom of each petal and a dark purple color on the top. I blend those color with water and add white splashes. I cut out the flowers with coordinating dies and placed them behind the black frame. Using fancy square dies I cut out one more frame from the gold glitter cardstock.

I fill the shaker base with black crystals and seed beads with beautiful name – gold dust, they made perfect combo for the dawn shaker card.

I cut out one more square panel from the dark blue cardstock in size of 5 inch and I’m attaching the shaker base on it.

Thanks so much for stopping by.

Slimline ocean card with Kaja

August 5, 2020 / CATEGORIES - Cards, CAS, Hello Cards

Hi there,

It’s Kaja from Kajcyika crafts and I must say I love summer, so I am mostly making summer themed cards these days. I haven’t made a slim card in a while so I was super excited when Studio Katia release them and today I finally made a card with one of the slimline dies!

Take a look:

I started creating this card by ink blending my background on top of watercolored paper using Studio Katia ink blending brushes (that I just love!). I decided to go with blue color scheme, so I used 3 shades of distress inks that go together nicely. Instead of inkblending everything in straight lines, I made the background a bit more dynamic with using the darkest color just in a few small parts.

Once the base ink blending was done, I sprinkled some clear water on top which is bearly seen in the finished project, but adds a nice details to the background.

I still wasn’t 100% satisfied with my ocean, so I added some white embossed air bubbles which can be found in Jawsome and Under the sea stamp sets. To get the bubbles to match with the background a bit better, I went ahead and added some white gel pen dots all over the ink blending.

Next, I die cut my ocean scene out with the biggest Dotted slimline – set 2 die. I made sure that my ink blending is positioned in the middle of the card, so the focus is in the center.

Then, I stamped out some images from Jawsome and Under the sea stamp sets and colored them in using alcohol markers. I used just a few different colors since I didn’t want the images to be overwhelming.

The last thing I added was the ‘Hello there’ sentiment from Whimsical town stamp set. I used black ink for stamping so the colors are nicely connected with one another.

Then, I glued everything together using Studio Katia glue and some foam tape and the card was all finished!

Thank you so much for joning me!

Just a Note to Say Hello with Emily | Welcome New DT Member!

August 3, 2020 / CATEGORIES - Cards, Hello Cards

Hello everyone! We are very excited to announce a New Designer joining our fabulous Designs Team – Emily Leiphart!! We are so thrilled to have such a talented and positive new member! We are celebrating by giving away a $25 Gift Certificate to our online store. Check out Emily’s fantastic card she is sharing today and leave a comment under this post by August 14th, 2020 for your chance to win. Help us welcome Emily to the Team!

Hi, this is Emily. I have some exciting news!! I’ve joined the Studio Katia Design Team and today’s my first post on their blog! I’m very honoured to be joining so many of my talented friends on this team and I’m also thrilled to be promoting a Canadian company. Yay!

Today’s card uses several stamp and die sets. I’ve missed travelling so much these last few months and I spent quite a bit of time reminiscing about our trip to Portugal last summer. That trip was the inspiration for this card. I started with the European Window Die to frame my scene and I glued two layers of watercolour cardstock and gave the top layer a wash of pumice stone distress ink.

To create the background scene, I used the Brush Stroke Waves Stencil to create the ocean and the Underwater Sun Rays to create the sunrise. Then I stamped and heat embossed three buildings from Whimsical Town and watercolored them with distress inks.

The potted plant on the windowsill inside the room is from the Potted Plants stamp set and the custom sentiment is from the Flourishing Note stamp set. The bottom of the pot is glued to the window frame and the top is popped up with foam tape.

After the layers were assembled, I added two birds from Whimsical Town and Iridescent Crystals to embellish the soil in the pot and to add shimmer to the ocean waves.

Thanks so much for stopping by!
