Spring Roses Cards

May 20, 2022 / CATEGORIES - Other

Hello crafting friends,

Monica here again and I’m super excited for this new release. Ever since we got it a few days ago I’ve been wanting to share my ideas with you and now we can. Yay!!!!

For this week I wanted to feature the Spring Roses stamp set. I created three super easy cards using the same technique with a bit of a twist on each of them.

I started by selecting colour cardstocks and matching inks. I cut my cardstocks to a slightly bigger size than an A2 card and used a stamping platform to stamp the Spring Roses around the edges on watermark ink. For the yellow and purple card, I used white embossing powder and heat set it. Then, I inked the outer edges of each piece of cardstock, using two or three shades of the same cardstock colour (yellow and purple). With a clean cloth, softly wiped the excess ink of the roses to reveal the white embossing. I then splattered some white shimmer all over these panels, trimmed them to 4” X 5 ¼” and set them aside to dry.

On a piece of thick vellum I inked the roses once again and heat embossed them on white embossing powder and used the matching die to cut them out. I stamped sentiments from the Spring Roses and Mom sets and trimmed them.

I had created A2 card bases and added a layer of textured cardstock for the yellow and a shimmery one for the purple one. I foam mounted my panels using the brand new foam tape from Studio Katia and adhered them to the card bases. Then, I added the vellum roses and placed the sentiment in the centre. This helps to adhere the vellum but hides the adhesive. I finished them by adding a few Marshmallow and Magic Pearls.

The green card was made with the same technique but in reverse. I inked the panel first, then I stamped the roses and used glitter embossing powder instead of white. I used some Iridescent Magnolia sequins for that extra texture and sparkle. You can watch the entire process for this card in this video:

I hope you like these simple yet cute cards that you can make with a few supplies and if you’re short in time.

Thanks so much for stopping by, see you next time!!!

VIDEO: Furry Dreams (come true) with Erica!

May 7, 2022 / CATEGORIES - Other

Hi everyone!

Today’s video and card is very special, as it’s a celebration of the arrival of our new furry family member Maya. She’s a sweet little rescue doggie we adopted almost two weeks ago, and we are so in love with her. If you want to see more of her, you can either follow me, or The Cheeky Chicas, on Instagram.

Little Miss Maya

For the video I had to use the Furry Dreams stamp set and coordinating diecuts, plus the Furry Paws stencil. I am a CDL after all, and for those of you who don’t know, that’s Crazy Dog Lady, lol!

Sunshine of Hope in No-Line Watercolour

May 6, 2022 / CATEGORIES - Other

Hello friends,
Monica here again! I must confess, I had been looking forward to the opportunity to create a project with this lovely stamp set. This Sunshine of Hope stamp set is not only beautiful but very meaningful and I especially love the sentiments.
I thought it was the perfect image to use with one of my favourite techniques: no-line watercoloring.

I started by stamping the image using Antique Linen Distress ink in some watercolour friendly cardstock. This time around, I went for Bristol Smooth because it works really well with the markers I chose.

I used the following Zig Real Brush markers.
For the petals: 050, 051, 052, 067.
For the stem and leaves: 043, 063, 043, 046.
For the centre of the flower: 063,066, 064.
To add detail to the petals I used the following polychromos colour pencils: 109 and 187.
Once I was done with the colouring, I splattered some white gouache to the finished image to create a more organic look and I set aside to let it dry.

Then I die cut the image using the matching Sunshine of Hope die and cut 2 more layers using basic thick cardstock, glued all the pieces together with Studio Katia liquid glue and let it dry.

I wanted to give dimension to this card. So I created a layered front panel. For the first one I inked a piece of white cardstock from the centre outwards with a few shades of yellow and orange. Creating a saturated area in the centre of the cardstock and trimmed it to 4 X 5 ¼ “. For the second layer, I used the Dotted Slimline die set 3, I placed it at the edge of the cardstock (this left one side of the cardstock free), ran it through the die cutting machine, then slid it to the other side, and ran it again. This left me with the full width of the cardstock with the dotted pattern. I then trimmed it to 3 ¾ X 5” and inked the edges with a little leftover ink from the same brush I had previously used.

I used a sentiment from the Sunshine of Hope stamp set, stamped it with black ink on a piece of thick white cardstock, added clear embossing powder and heat set it. I then cut the sentiment using an exacto knife and also distressed the edges a bit with some yellow ink.

To assemble the card, I created a cardbase of a yellow cardstock. I adhered the first part of the front panel with liquid glue and then the second one using foam tape. I glued the Sunflower right at the centre and placed the sentiment in the bottom corner.
I wanted all the attention to the actual Sunflower but still added a few Moss Green pearls, which gave a nice contrast to the yellow.

Working on this project was a joy, especially the colouring which was super relaxing.
I hope you like it and don’t hesitate to leave a comment if you would like more details.

See you next time!!

Easy stamped card with Jewel Crystals and a tiny stamp

May 5, 2022 / CATEGORIES - Cards, CAS, Other

Hello everyone!

It’s Galina. Today I want to share with you a fun technique on how to use your tiny stamps for perfectly lined stamped patterns.

For this card I used a tiny cute flower from HOPPY EASTER Stamp set. I love this set because it includes some non-easter images and the flowers and butterflies are super cute.

How to make this card you can watch here or on Studio Katia Youtube channel.

I created a perfect grid using the Bone Folder and scoring board. If you don’t have a scoring board you can score the lines with a ruler and bone folder on a soft\silicon mat.

I cut out a panel using DOTTED PATTERNS SET 3.

I stamped the flowers with blue Distress Oxide ink and colored them with a Copic marker B 24.

I fill the remaining gaps with SNOW CRYSTALS.

Thanks for stopping by!

Spring Theme Mini Slimline Shakers

April 22, 2022 / CATEGORIES - Other

Hello crafty friends,

I’m Monica, this is my very first post for Studio Katia and I am super excited to be here.

For this first Studio Katia project, I wanted to bring something that’s really me, a bit of color and some awesome bling. So I created 2 mini slimline shaker cards with Spring and Easter themes (getting ahead for the next year!!!)

I used the Easter Eggs stamps and started by stamping all the eggs on watercolour paper, using black ink and heat setting with clear embossing powder. Then came the coloring, this time I chose Tombow markers but you can use any water based markers or even regular watercolours. I decided to go for a very spring-like colour palette. I selected two shades of blue, pink and purple. The design of these eggs make it easy to add the colour by section and I wanted to take advantage of that. To explain a bit more I’m going to use the blue egg as an example: I started from the top by adding some blue colour only on the corner of that top part of the egg, then blended with the water brush. I followed with the section under it using the other shade of blue but this time adding the colour on the opposite corner of that section and blending again. I continued the same way alternating shades and corners until I got to the last section. The pink and purple eggs were also done in a similar way. Once the coloring was done, I splattered some white gouache and let them dry.

For the background of each card I used the Peeps and Eggs stencil and added the inks using the Ink Blender Brushes. On a heavy white cardstock, I added purple ink and then went over with clear glitter gel and set aside to dry. For the second card, I blended layers of yellow, pink, baby blue, lilac, green and mustard,  then used the stencil to apply glitter gel and let it dry.

I cut the Mini Slimline (set one) dies on white textured cardstock. I created a window for the one with the scalloped edge and placed a piece of Acetate Sheet and two layers of foam tape. For the other piece I used the Easter Eggs die (dotted edge) to create two windows, then added a piece of acetate sheet and foam tape.

Once the base layers had dried, I used the same slimline die with the scalloped edge to cut them out and started assembling the cards. I used the same confetti mix for both cards, Studio Katia  Cross Glitter and Pastel Rainbow Confetti.

For the sentiments, I went with “Spring Blessings” from the Easter Eggs set and stamped it on ivory cardstock on black ink and “Happy Easter” from the Mini Easter Sayings on black cardstock with white embossing powder. As a final touch, I added some Radiant Pineapple Fusion sequins for extra bling.

I hope you enjoy these projects as much as I loved making them. Thanks so much for visiting.

Until next time!

Monica.

Easye mixed media Easter card

April 14, 2022 / CATEGORIES - Cards, New Release, Other

Hello everyone!

Galina with you today and I want to share some easy mixed media tips for stencils. For my card I used a new PEEPS & EGGS STENCIL and new cute stamp –KOBI’S MINI EASTER.peep

How to make this card you can watch here or on Studio Katia Youtube channel.

To create a dimensional pattern with eggs and bunnies I used a white textured paste. It dries white even on a colored cardstock.

I stamped the bear with Memento Black ink and colored it with copic markers (alcohol based markers). I used W 0, 01, 03, RV11 for ears; E 30,31,33 for the body; RV11,14, 0000 for the egg; Y35,00, YR24 for the bow.

I cut out a scallop frame for the card using a largest die from the FANCY CIRCLE Die set.

Thanks for stopping by!

Easter Blessings Cross Shaker Card

April 6, 2022 / CATEGORIES - Cards, CAS, New Release, Other, Shaker Cards

Happy Wednesday Friends, Ilda here!

Do you send out Easter Cards? Well if you do I think you will love today’s card featuring the new Shaker Simple Cross from Studio Katia. Not only is this cross perfect for Easter, but it can also be used for sympathy, Christmas, and many Religious Events even weddings!

CARD RECIPE

So let me tell you how to put this together.  I first started by ink blending the backgrounds using the UNDERWATER SUN RAYS in pastel ink colors in rainbow order (I used a few of the Pawsitively Saturated Inks from SSS).

I then die-cut the SHAKER SIMPLE CROSS from the center of the panel. I only saved the inner cross frame from this layer and discarded the rest of the cuts. I then die cut another 2 layers of the cross using white cardstock and another one using gold foil cardstock. Next, I stacked and glued together the inside cross finishing it off with the gold layer on top.

To create the shaker window, I added a piece of ACETATE to the back of the blended panel. I then glued both the outside and inside Cross frames to the window opening. To the center of the cross, I added a gold foil pearl.

To the back of the blended panel, I outlined the edges and the perimeter around the cross with foam tape. I then used CROSS GLITTER and PASTEL RAINBOW CONFETTI to fill in the shaker well. I closed up the shaker area by attaching the card base to the panel.

The sentiment comes from the new MINI EASTER SAYINGS that I did by using gold embossing and then stacked 3 of the shadow layers to make the sentiment pop up using the MINI EASTER SAYINGS DIES.

As a final finishing touch I added a sprinkle of pearls using a variety of sizes and colors from the SATIN PEARLS – MIX.

I hope you are inspired by this pastel rainbow Easter Blessings Cross Shaker Card.

Thank you for stopping by and until next time… Happy Crafting!
