Colorful Snowflake Christmas Cards by Ilda

November 27, 2019 / CATEGORIES - Cards, Winter Holidays

Hello, my friends Ilda here! I hope you all are having a wonderful week so far.

Today I have some bright and colorful cards I made using backgrounds I recently created while playing with Tonic Shimmer Powders.

So to begin I will share with you how these backgrounds came to life. I simply sprinkled Cherry Bomb, Solar Flare and Blue Blitz Shimmer Powders onto my craft mat and sprayed them with water. I then simply dabbed the watercolor paper into the colored puddles to create this first background and then just set the panel off to the side to dry.

Once the panel was dry I die cut it using the frame from the DOTTED PATTERNS SET 3 CREATIVE DIES. I then stamped out the snowflakes from the SNOWFLAKES and heat set them in white Embossing Powder. The sentiments come from the POINSETTIA BORDER set.

To add more sparkle, (which by the way the shimmer powders are already very sparkly but not very visible here in the photos) I also added some of the ICY SPARKLE CRYSTALS that I absolutely love and are some of my favorite right now!

The background of this second card was made using the leftover ink from the first card. I was so surprised to see how the colors mixed even more to create more of a blue/purple panel. Couldn’t let all that goodness go to waste!

For this panel, I die cut it out first with the frame from the DARLING RIBBON AND FRAMES DIES and then I stamped 3 of the SNOWFLAKES and heat set them. I then used the coordinating SNOWFLAKE DIES to die cut the snowflakes out of the panel. Rather than creating a shaker card, which would have been fun too, I just popped the panel up onto the card front with FOAM TAPE and then glued the coordinating snowflake dies to the panel. Before I did that though, I dipped the snowflakes with glue along the bottom edge and sprinkled on some of the FROST GLITTER. I also added some glue dots to the background to have some of that glitter stick to the front as well.

The let is snow was simply die cut from sparkly white foam craft and just glued in place. To dot the “i” I used an ARCTIC BREEZE PEARL.

For even more shine I also added a few of the IRIDESCENT ICE FLAKES.

Alright before I leave here today, I have to tell you about the new Double Sided Foam Tapes from Studio Katia. They are awesome and I love that they come in BLACK AND WHITE! You get so much tape (36 yards to be exact), the tack is amazing and it can be torn. Plus the price is the best I have seen $25.00! Check it out, I promise you will love it as much as I do 😍
