Hello, Erica on the blog today with a couple of cards for you.
I decided to use the Elongated Dotted Hexagon Creative Dies and use some lovely patterned paper I had on hand. I have previously made a similar card which you can find here if you wanted to check it out. For this card I decided to go in a slightly different direction and not fill the entire card panel with my ‘quilts’.
Purple isn’t a favourite colour of mine but I am in a bit of a ‘challenge myself’-mode recently and decided to go with that for my main colour. A glutton for punishment maybe but eh, I’ll take one for the team.
After cutting out the pieces with the die in the patterned paper and also some in a purple linen textured card stock, I set about layering them and adding foam to the back to raise them up from the card base. My original plan was to just make one card but I had so many left over piece of the patterned paper, I cut out a few more hexagons in the purple linen card stock and puzzled them together too.
For the first card I decided on a purple card base and having the hexagons with the patterned paper on the outer edges for a nice contrast. I stamped up a couple of the cuddling foxes from the Foxes stamp set, one with an outline and one solid image. The solid image I added a little bit of Copic colouring to give them cheeks and pink ears.
In the same patterned paper I also cut a banner using the die in the Darling Ribbon & Dotted Frames set and stamped ‘Happy Birthday’ from the Birthday Lions stamp set on it. Both the foxes and the banner were attached to the card using foam tape. I also added some sequins from the Majestic Fusion to the card but it still looked like it needed a little something else. I know, I know… Miss Take-It-Too-Far-With-The-Embellishments goes for the win again! Well, on that note, I cut out a few hearts using the little heart die in the Stitched Nested Notebook set. One in the patterned paper and one in the purple linen card stock. On these I stamped the ‘HB2U!’ sentiment and the number 3 on and attached to the card with foam tape again but I added some silver string to make them look like balloons. At this point I finally stepped back and let the card be. I know, f-i-n-a-l-l-y right??
On to the second card! I coloured in the outlined fox I stamped up earlier using my copics and then fussycut the image out. For this card I had hexagons with the purple linen card stock on the outer edges and as the other card looked lovely with the contrast, I cut out an A2 panel in the patterned paper using the die in the Darling Ribbons & Dotted Frames and adhered that to a card base. While I was on a die cutting mission, I also cut out a banner in the same die set but this time in the purple card stock.
On this one I stamped ‘Welcome To the Family’ from the And The Fox Says set, I also added a little heart for a sweet touch before adhering it to the card with foam tape. I didn’t want to go overboard with embellishments on this card (shocker, I know. Are you sitting down?) but I did add a few little Clear Heart Drops with Multi Medium Matte.
Phew… if you are still with me, bravo! I admire your stamina 😉
I will sign off now but don’t worry, I will be back before you know it with more cardmaking mischief and jibber-jabbering. Until then, happy crafting!
