Embossed Floral Background

July 4, 2017 / CATEGORIES - CAS, Thank You Cards

Hi friends!

Svitlana is here today. Happy 4th Of July to all our American readers! Hope you’re having a great time with your family enjoying picnics, fireworks and s’mores 🙂

I’m a big fan of background stamps and own a lot of them. But they can be a bit pricey. At the same time some designs don’t have so many uses that are worth to be purchased. Today I want to share how you can create a floral background using just one floral image.

To start off I cut a panel out of Solar White cardstock and prepped it with anti-static powder as I didn’t want my embossing powder to stick where I didn’t want it to be. With clear embossing ink I stamped a floral from Thank You So Much Stamp Set kind of in the middle of the panel and white embossed it.

Using clear ink I stamped another flower next to already embossed one overlapping it a bit and poured white embossing powder over and removed the excess of the powder back to its container. In order to achieve continuous not overlapping design I removed the powder from the overlapped area using small dry brush. After that I heat set it.

I continued doing the same until covered the whole panel with white embossed flowers. I did one flower at a time. As it was easier for me to remove embossing powders from overlapped areas.

I inked the whole panel using Antique Linen Distress Ink. It revealed not very visible before white on white embossing and added a light vintage look to the panel. After that the panel was foam mounted onto a white card base.

I die-cut a sentiment using a die from Thank You So Much Die Set out of white cardstock twice and adhered them together. Just so add a little bit of dimension. And them I adhered the sentiment onto the panel.

I finished off my card by adding several sequins from Majestic Fusion.

You can do the same background using stamping. But in this case you will need some kind of masking, paper of liquid one. What I like about embossing is that it can be easily removed with a brush.

Have a wonderful day!

This looks beautiful!! I don’t own many background stamps either. There would be so many possibilities using your method and the stamps I already own! Thanks for sharing such a great idea!!
