Hi there! Emily Midgett here with you today sharing some inspiration using the new Horizontal Balloons stamp set. I love how semi-translucent balloons pick up the colors around them, and I tried to emulate that with my project today! We have been having so many thunderstorms in my area lately that it was hard to take a good photograph of my project for today. The light was just not my friend! It looks prettier and more vibrant in real life haha! Let’s get started with the details.

I began by heat embossing the Horizontal Balloons stamp set and the It’s Your Birthday stamp set onto some Arches Cold Press watercolor paper using White Satin Pearl embossing powder. I then used a fun watercolor technique to add some ethereal mottled color to my card front: wet-on-wet watercolor. I began by wetting my entire panel of card stock, then dropping in very diluted drops of pink, purple, teal, and blue watercolors. I chose colors that would work well together, because they were all going to meld and blend together, and I wanted to avoid a muddy mess! After my initial layer had dried, I went back in with some more concentrated watercolors and added more shading to the balloons, using the colors from the initial layer as a guide for my color placement.

After my balloon watercoloring had dried, I added a bit more concentrated color over my white embossed sentiment to make it pop a bit better, as well as some sparkly watercolor medium to the balloons. I then added some Pastel Rainbow Confetti to add to the festive look.
Well, that’s all for me today! I hope you’ve enjoyed the new release inspiration. Have a marvelous day!
