Hey there crafty peeps! I have a couple of friends who have a birthday right around Halloween, so it’s always fun to make a Halloween inspired birthday card for them each year.

I have a slimline card today that could be a birthday card or it could be a just a Halloween card. I cut two panels of Bristol Smooth cardstock using the large rectangle from the Dotted Slimline Set 1 dies. Using the Birthday Balloons Duo Stencil I ink blended balloons of different sizes on the panel using the Studio Katia Blending Brushes. I used Wilted Violet, Mowed Lawn, Spiced Marmalade and Black Soot Distress Oxide inks. The panel was adhered to a 3 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ card base in landscape format.

Using the second panel of Bristol Smooth cardstock I ink blended with Twisted Citron, Moved Lawn and Black Soot Distress Oxide ink. I cut the panel using the large oval from the Dotted Slimline Set 1 dies. Then I backed the opening with acetate to make a shaker window. Using Studio Katia Black Double Sided Foam Tape I made a double thickness well around the shaker window. Then I added some Studio Katia Spooky Satin Confetti onto the centre of the balloons on the card base. I spread them out a bit with my fingers so they weren’t stacked up too much. I removed the tape baking from the top panel and secured it over the card base securing the shaker.

The ‘happy’ sentiment from the Happy Celebrations stamp set was white embossed onto a strip of black cardstock cut from the Halftone Lines Cover die, this die is a staple in my craft room. I love that it cuts so many line widths all with a perfect rounded edge. I adhered it on an angle above the oval.
I cut my punny sentiment from the Studio Katia Chunky Alphabet dies with purple sparkly cardstock and I adhered it to the centre of the clear window with Studio Katia Glue. A little trick I use to when I have a sentiment made up of individual letters to keep them spaced out evenly, I lay them on to my work surface and I picked them all up using a strip of purple tape. Then I can flip it over, add liquid glue to the backs of the letters and then put it on to my project exactly where I want it to do. I leave it until the glue dries and then remove the purple tape. Works like a charm.

Hope you enjoyed making a card with me today. A Halloween inspired card made with just a birthday balloon stencil, alphabet dies and a bit of ink. Thanks for dropping in and have a great day!
