Hooray, It’s Your Day!

July 10, 2019 / CATEGORIES - Birthday Cards, Cards, Shaker Cards

Hi there! Emily Midgett here with you today sharing some gender neutral birthday inspiration using some new and old goodies. I am always in need of gender neutral birthday cards… you never know when a sudden kid’s birthday party will arise! I combined a bit of heat embossing and ink blending with a shaker filled with lots of colorful bits and bobs. Let’s get started with the details!

I began by stamping and silver embossing the sentiment from It’s Your Birthday on a panel of A2 card stock, then blending a light and dark shade of teal ink around the edges to create a bit of shading and depth to the background. I also die cut a balloon from another panel of white A2 card stock. (I just love the dotted detail around the edges!) I backed this panel with some acetate to create a shaker.

To create the shaker, I added plenty of foam tape around the edges of the opening, then put a dark teal die cut bow from the Balloons die set at the bottom of the balloon opening.

I filled the shaker with an abundance of sequins, sprinkles, confetti, and glitter. The variety of colors and “neutral” aqua background (I feel like aqua is a neutral, because it goes with basically everything!) makes it perfect for a gender neutral birthday card! And what little kid doesn’t love a shaker?

Well, that’s all for me today! Thank so much for stopping by, and have a marvelous day!
