Jaws the two of us! with NEW DT Member Emily

March 26, 2019 / CATEGORIES - Cards, Floral Cards

Hello everyone! We are very excited to announce New Designer joining our fabulous Designs Team – Emily Midgett!! We are so thrilled to have such a talented and positive designer with us! We are celebrating by giving away a $50 Gift Certificate to our online store. Check out Emily’s fantastic card she is sharing today and leave a comment by March 30th, 2019!

Hi there! Emily Midgett here with you today, and I’m thrilled to be posting today as an official member of the Studio Katia team! For my first post, I thought I’d combine some of the new undersea critters and some flowers to create a cutesy/romantic card that just might work for, dare I say it, a guy! Let’s get started with all of the details!

I began adding some purple glimmer paste to teal card stock using the new Underwater Sun Rays stencil. While the background was drying, I stamped the little shark couple from Jawsome, along with their little thought bubbles and a sweet sentiment on some Copic-friendly card stock using Copic-friendly black ink. I then colored them with Copic markers, adding a hot pink bow to Mrs. Shark, and die cut the images with the coordinating dies.

To add a little more interest to the card front, I stamped a few of the single hibiscus and some foliage from the new Aloha stamp set with some more Copic-friendly ink, then die cut them and colored them a tropical shade of pink and neon green using my Copic markers. I added them to the upper corners of my glittery undersea background using some foam tape and liquid adhesive.

Finally, I added the shark couple, their thought bubbles, and the sentiment strip using foam adhesive for lots of dimension on the card front. Would be such a cute card for an anniversary or just a sweet little reminder for that special guy in your life! Just enough masculine colors to make it un-offensive to a manly-man. Ha!

Well, that’s all for me today! Thanks so much for joining me on my very first post for Studio Katia! Have a marvelous day!

I studied sharks in college so Jawsome is a new favorite of mine. This card is so sweet with the sun rays and Aloha flowers. I’ve seen Emily’s work before and I’m excited to see how she uses Studio Katia products. Congrats, Emily!

Oh how exciting this news is!! I adore Studio Katia products and I adore Emily Midgett’s creativity and inspiration, this is going to be such fun, congrats all around! Emily this card is adorable, I love how the purple glimmer paste looks on the teal card stock with the Underwater Sun Rays stencil and the Jawsome duo are definitely awesome! Since “real men wear pink” I see no problems with Pink and Lime tropical florals on a he-man card, I man it’s underwater and it’s tropical hehe. Thanks for sharing this card and for the always awesome inspiration with some of my favorite products with this new release.

I’m happy to see you around here, Emily! And what a fun debut card. I would not have guessed that that was purple glimmer paste; it makes such a lovely navy on the blue cardstock. I really like how your scene includes those giant hibiscus; why not have some underwater? Thanks for sharing, and congrats on joining the SK DT!
