Just a Note to Say Hello with Emily | Welcome New DT Member!

August 3, 2020 / CATEGORIES - Cards, Hello Cards

Hello everyone! We are very excited to announce a New Designer joining our fabulous Designs Team – Emily Leiphart!! We are so thrilled to have such a talented and positive new member! We are celebrating by giving away a $25 Gift Certificate to our online store. Check out Emily’s fantastic card she is sharing today and leave a comment under this post by August 14th, 2020 for your chance to win. Help us welcome Emily to the Team!

Hi, this is Emily. I have some exciting news!! I’ve joined the Studio Katia Design Team and today’s my first post on their blog! I’m very honoured to be joining so many of my talented friends on this team and I’m also thrilled to be promoting a Canadian company. Yay!

Today’s card uses several stamp and die sets. I’ve missed travelling so much these last few months and I spent quite a bit of time reminiscing about our trip to Portugal last summer. That trip was the inspiration for this card. I started with the European Window Die to frame my scene and I glued two layers of watercolour cardstock and gave the top layer a wash of pumice stone distress ink.

To create the background scene, I used the Brush Stroke Waves Stencil to create the ocean and the Underwater Sun Rays to create the sunrise. Then I stamped and heat embossed three buildings from Whimsical Town and watercolored them with distress inks.

The potted plant on the windowsill inside the room is from the Potted Plants stamp set and the custom sentiment is from the Flourishing Note stamp set. The bottom of the pot is glued to the window frame and the top is popped up with foam tape.

After the layers were assembled, I added two birds from Whimsical Town and Iridescent Crystals to embellish the soil in the pot and to add shimmer to the ocean waves.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Love the view through the window. The inability to travel this
summer has been very frustrating. guess I’ll just travel
down memory lane to some of my past vacations.

Oh wow! This card is just BEAUTIFUL! 😍 I adore the white on white effect of the window frame and the base of the card. And the texture of the paper is just adding in so much to the card. I adore (!!!) the warm and happy colors you used. It’s such a heartwarming card! Beautiful work Emily! Congrats on being on the team. ☺️😘

I’m sure you can hear me wildly cheering and applauding all the way from Alberta in hearing that you’ve joined the SK design team! They are sooooo fortunate to have you on board, as are we! Your debut card: sheer delight! Love the view-through-the-window scene you’ve created! So many special details – the sun rays, the plant, the ocean, the crystals – that add another level of WOW!
