Kobi Bear Goes Fishing Shaker with Ilda

July 16, 2018 / CATEGORIES - Cards, Shaker Cards

Hi there, Ilda here with you from ilovedoingallthingscrafty. Today I’m taking you along to see Kobi the Bear who swam out to the middle of the ocean and found himself some nice rocks to sit on and go fishing, lol!

To create this card I began by die cutting the Scalloped Square die from one of two pieces of Bristol paper, cut to 5×7 inches. I then stamped Kobi on the top piece of cardstock and the fishy critters on to the bottom piece. After that, I colored all the images in using Zig Clean Color brushes.

Next, I die cut the coordinating dies for both the Under the Sea and Shell-ebration images from post-it tape to create some masks and placed them over the underwater critters. This leaves a white space around the critters but honestly, I really didn’t mind as I did not feel like fussy cutting them out!

The next step was to color in the water. I lined up both pieces of cardstock, temporarily adhered them together and then used Distress Oxide Inks to blend out the different shades of blue for the water. I then stamped out the fish hook on the bottom cardstock piece and used a ruler to extend and draw the fishing line on the top piece of cardstock. To add some shine to the waves, I used the Brush Stroke Waves Stencil and added glimmer paste, avoiding any of the areas that were colored in.

Once the paste was dry I added the acetate sheet to the window opening and then built up the well for the shaker bits using foam tape. Next, I added all the sequins, confetti and cones to the middle area of where the window would be, removed all the backing from the tape and carefully aligned the window opening with the bottom panel. Now it’s ready to shake, shake, shake!

As a finishing touch, I cut down a very thin wood dowel to the size I needed and wrapped some black sewing thread on the end and lined it up with the fishing line that I had drawn and glued it in place. I then added some glossy accents to Kobi’s nose and attached the entire card front to a 5×7 top folding card. And that is it for this card!

Hope you were inspired by this fun Kobi Bear Goes Fishing Shaker Card today! Thanks for joining me today and until next time… happy crafting!

Ilda
