Ocean birthday card with Kaja

August 8, 2018 / CATEGORIES - Birthday Cards, Cards

Hi there,

It’s Kaja from Kajcyika crafts and today I made a sweet summer birthday card!

Take a look:

The first thing I did was the background. I used watercolor paper on which I applied three colors of distress inks: Chipped sapphire, Salty ocean and Tumbled glass. I made an ombre look, so I went from the darkest at the bottom towards the lightest at the top.

Then I used Brush stroke waves stencil and white pigment ink to make it even more ocean like.

Next, I die cut the background with Dotted patterns: Scallop frames die and trimmed it at the left side, so I got an interesting look at the end.

Next up was the coloring. I stamped out two fish and a squid from Under the sea set and colored them in using alcohol markers. I placed them over my ocean background and I felt like something is missing so I added the seaweed at the bottom. I die cut everything using it’s coordinating dies.

Then I glued everything the background using liquid glue.

After that I added the sentiment. Birthday greetings set has a lot of great birthday sayings, but I ended up using ‘Have an awesome birthday!’. I stamped it in black on a white paper and then I trimmed it to a small rectangle that I popped up using foam tape.

I felt like my animals need some air bubbles, so I used Clear drop mix to make them. I glued them down using liquid glue.

The last thing I did was glued down the ocean background and I used double sided tape to do so.

That’s it for today! Thank you so much for joining me! See you next time.

An absolutely wonderful underwater scene, Kaja! I’m loving the look of the scallop panel trimmed on the side! Adding that to my ‘must try’ list!
