Poinsettia Shaker Card with Isha Gupta

November 18, 2019 / CATEGORIES - Cards, Winter Holidays

Hello everyone! Isha here sharing a card using watercolor markers and a watercolor stencil technique.

I started by creating the background stencil layer. I dabbed green and teal distress oxide ink to the stencil, spritz it with water and put it on a watercolor mat layer color side down. Remove the stencil slowly and this leaves a subtle and beautiful faux watercolor look. Let this piece dry and then I die-cut it using the Elegant Scallop Oval die. Flick some gold paint to it.

Adhere the negative piece of the oval to the cardbase. I then adhere a piece of vellum to the back side of the mat layer to create a shaker. Put some some confelli and glitter on top of the negative piece, adhere glue all around the mat layer and adhere it to the cardbase.

Stamp and emboss the images using WOW! gold embossing powder. I colored them using Zig watercolor pens. Let it dry and then die-cut it. Flick a bit of white paint.

Adhere the images. I then die-cut the word “MERRY” and embossed it using WOW! Metallic Gold Rich Ultra High powder. This give it a raised 3D effect. Adhere the word and the sentiment to the card.

Thank you for dropping by! Have a nice crafty day!

Isha

Hello Surekha, thanks for the sweet words. I used Zig clean color real brush markers for this card. I like the colors and vibrancy of them. Just keep in mind they are not lightfast…meaning they fade if the card is left in light over time. I mostly, use them for the cards I am going to send soon. Hope this helps.
