Hey there, crafty friends!

I’m glad to be back on the Studio Katia blog today with this colorful project!

I began by cutting down a piece of watercolor paper to 4 x 5.25 inches. I inked up the Peony Trimmings stamp set with Versamark ink and then stamped it on to my watercolor paper.

I poured white embossing powder over the image and then used my heat hun to melt the embossing powder.

Using an ink blending tool and my Wilted Violet Distress Oxide ink, I applied ink with a heavy hand toward the bottom of the watercolor paper where the embossed image is and then blended it out with a lighter layer toward the top.

With a dry cloth, I buffed off the excess ink so that the embossed image was bright white.

Using a water brush and clean water, I painted clean water into the petals of the floral images, waited a few seconds and then dabbed them dry with my cloth, leaving a much lighter and oxidized look to the petals.

After I completed the entire image with this water painting process, I used Blueprint Sketch and Faded Jeans distress oxide inks to paint in darker layers on the floral images, starting at the base of the petals and then blending them out to the tips.

I thought the images were still looking a little flat, so I used some copic markers and colored in the images with some blues and purples. This final coloring step really brought the images to life!

To finish off the panel, I splattered some water droplets on to the panel, and then stamped a sentiment on to a separate piece of paper and then used the Peony Trimmings die to cut out the sentiment with one of the banner pieces.

To create that banner piece, I laid the die set on to a piece of black paper, traced around the die with a pencil, and then cut it out with my scissors.

I glued the stamped sentiment on to the black matte piece and then mounted that on to the colored panel with foam tape.

I finished off the card by adhering the colored panel down to a cut and scored 4.25 x 5.5 inch card base.
