Sparkly Thanks With Tracy

August 29, 2018 / CATEGORIES - Thank You Cards

Hey lovelies, Tracy here with you today sharing my latest card.

For me stencils are possibly one of the most underused products in the craft work, so today I am sharing a card I created using the gorgeous Mandala Stencil.

I started off by trimming down a piece of Neenah card to just under 4.1/4×5.5″ and picked 3 Oxide ink colours I wanted to work with.

I taped my stencil in place, I decided to do it so it was half on the card and made sure it was firmly in place.

Once that was done I used ink blending tools and starting with the Mustard Seed Oxide I blended into the Spiced Marmalade and then into Candied Apple.

At this point you would normally remove the stencil, but as I wanted to add some sparkle I kept it in place, but to avoid too much ink bleeding I gently blotted the stencil to removed any excess ink.

I then used Nuvo Glimmer Paste in Moonstone to cover the stencilled area. Make sure you immediately remove the stencil and wash it well as the paste does dry quite quickly and can ruin your stencil.

I left it to dry overnight and once it was dry I adhered it to an A2 top folding note card.

For a sentiment I used the Thanks Die and bubble from the now retired Thanks So much Co ordinating die set and adhered it to the card.

As you can see it is quite sparkly and if this is too much sparkle for you then I would use a plain cardstock rather than a glittery one.

An alternative to this technique it to ink the whole piece of card with your oxides and then put the stencil on top and use the paste that way.

Whats your favourite way to use stencils ?

Thank you so much for stopping by today, I hope you have a great day.

You’ve elevated the intricate beauty of this stencil to gorgeous with your side placement and the sparkle! Love this! I typically use stencils, depending on their design, in one of three ways: as is, with ink blending; as a background, softer ink blending; embossed. I want to give your technique a try…in fact, I think you’ve just sparked an idea for a DT card I need to create. Hope you don’t mind if I case you….

I love this card, the more sparkles the better for my taste lol. I will definitely be trying this style with stencils, thanks for the inspiration.

OK–now I have no excuse not to open my glimmer paste! I absolutely love this card, Tracy! Is there such a thing as too much sparkle?!–haha
