Summer Time with Sunny Studio Collaboration Hop!

July 8, 2017 / CATEGORIES - Blog Hops, Cards

Hello Crafty Friends!
Both teams are celebrating Summer Time with fun and colorful cards using stamps from Sunny Studio and dies and embellishments from Studio Katia. There’s prizes too! Both companies have a prize to give away too so make sure you read all the way to the bottom of this post to see how to win!

Erica here with a few delicious cards!

Yep, three greetings today as I have three cards for you. When Katia told me we were doing a collaboration with Sunny Studio Stamps I wanted all the stamps. I’m not even exaggerating, like All. The. Stamps! After much deliberation back and forth (and mainly because I HAD to make a decision or I’d probably still be deliberating) I got the Two Scoops stamp set, as well as the coordinating die, because I’m a bit of an ice cream monster.

My first idea was to use the sentiment ‘What’s the scoop, sweet thing?’ and have a cone with loads of scoops of ice cream in it. I wanted it to look like each scoop was a different flavor so I mixed and matched my stamped and die cut scoops until I had the desired height of my cone and then I adhered them all together with foam tape as I wanted them popped off the card. Background wise I wanted quite a plain panel so it didn’t distract too much from the ice cream cone and I decided to make my own patterned paper using the same inks as I had used for the scoops to make it a perfect colour match. The little sprinkle stamp in the set was just what I was looking for and again, I went to town with the stamping. I can be quite the force to be reckoned with once I get on a roll!

As the rest of the background is quite plain… or at least plain-ish…. I added some details by die cutting some pattern into the panel using the A2 sized rectangle as well as the flourished frame in the Darling Ribbon & Dotted Frames creative cuts before adding the whole thing to a card base. Once it was on the card base, I popped it back into the MISTI and stamped the sentiment I picked earlier on it in a lovely teal colour, EXCEPT I masked off the word ‘sweet’ as I wanted to substitute it with a die cut that said the same thing. I cut it out in white card stock and shaded the bottom of it in the same ink as I stamped the rest of the sentiment to create an ombre effect. One last final flourish for this card was a scattering of sequins from the Crystal Rainbow fusion which I adhered with glossy accents.

For my second card I tried something completely different and cut out a card base, a 8″x3.5″ rectangle shape, out of mint green card stock. It is a thin, long card and the plan was to have a parade of ice cream cones on it! I’m trying to make more use of my patterned paper rather than just hoarding it (I’m totally guilty of doing this) so I cut out a 3″ wide strip of pastel coloured plaid patterned paper which I added to the middle of the card with double sided tape.

My last card was super quick as I had “left over” ice creams as well as a ready-made background panel which I added some details to by running it through my BigShot with the dotted rectangle A2 die from the Darling Ribbon & Dotted Frames. Then it was a quick glue and foam tape job to add the ice creams, stamp the sentiment and add some clear sequins from the Crystal Clear sequin fusion and done!
That’s it from me for this time but don’t forget to hop along the whole hop and check out everyone’s contribution, not to mention leave comments for your chance to win some fabulous stuff!

Have a great weekend!
Erica

Hi Erica ~ Your first card is SCRUMP-TIOUS and I love the element you added with the die cut background. I really (REALLY) like the long, narrow second card and give kudos to you for parting with some of your patterned paper!! (Hi, my name is Maggie and I’m a paper hoarder! LOL) The plaid patterned paper amazingly matches the ink colors so well! I love leftovers and this particular leftover is such fun. Thanks so much for sharing and thanks, too, to Sunny Studios for bringing Studio Katia to my attention. I have a sneaking feeling you’ll be hearing from me. SOON!! ~HUGS~
