Theme Week | Masculine Cards: Day 1 – with Laurie

June 5, 2017 / CATEGORIES - Cards, Theme Week

Hello!!!  It’s Day 1 of the Theme Week here at Studio Katia and the theme is…Masculine Cards!!  I’m not going to lie, this was a big, big challenge for me.  I tried again and again to make the perfect male-friendly card.

SUPPLIES:

Kobi the Birthday Bear Clear Stamp Set & Coordinating Dies

Origami Winter Clear Stamp Set

Dotted Patterns Set 1 Creative Dies

Happy Clear Stamp Set

Stitched Nested Creative Square Dies

Darling Ribbon and Dotted Frames Die Set

Autumn Fusion

This card features products from the latest release as well as previously released stamps and dies!  My card, of course, uses the new Kobi the Birthday Bear stamps and dies.  I stamped, coloured and die cut Kobi, then built my scene around him.  I die cut a window in a panel of woodgrain cardstock using the middle die from the Stitched Nested Creative Square Dies.  I then used the rectangle die from the new Dotted Patterns Set 1 die set to create a lovely dotted panel.
To create an outdoor scene, I stamped and coloured the pine tree from the Origami Winter Stamp Set and fussy cut it out.  I used watercolour paper and a grassy border die to create two layers of grass.  I used Peeled Paint and Vintage Photo Distress Oxide Inks to blend colour on the grass pieces.  I also used Faded Jeans Distress Oxide to ink blend a sky background.
As you can see, I splattered some water on each of the blended pieces and didn’t notice the very weird splotch it left on the green grass.  Before I adhered all my pieces, I added some Vintage Photo ink to the woodgrain background as it is a VERY white cardstock.
For the sentiment I used the banner die from the Darling Ribbon and Dotted Frames Die Set and created the sentiment using the new Happy Stamp Set.
To finish off, I decided the bear needed a bow tie, so I used the bow image from the Birthday Lions Stamp Set, cut it out and put it on Kobi, with glitter, of course!!  I also placed a few sequins from the Autumn Fusion Sequins.
I hope you like my attempt at a masculine card, haha!  Even though I’m not super happy with the way it turned, I had fun making it!!
Enjoy the masculine theme week!!!  See you soon!!!!
Laurie

Awww Laurie, this is adorable. (I wouldn’t have noticed the ‘splotch’ if you hadn’t pointed it out! LOL)

Your Kobi-in-the-forest scene is absolutely delightful, and oh, how dapper he is with his red bowtie! Super cute; super inspiring!
