Hello my friends, Ilda here. I hope you are all staying safe and healthy at home during this time.
Today’s card was sadly inspired by the Pandemic, right now there is definitely no place like home! At the time that this was colored, (Day 15 of Kathy Racoocin’s Daily Marker Coloring Challenge) Italy was and still is going through difficult times. I have never been to Italy but I imagine it has some beautiful coastal places like this, maybe even whimsical too.
CARD DETAILS
To begin I stamped out all of the WHIMSICAL TOWN stamps that I wanted to use and colored them in using Copic Markers. I chose the bright colors of the rainbow and then mixed them up to color all the buildings. I think the colorful images just add to the whimsy of the card.
Once all the elements were colored I then used the coordinating WHIMSICAL TOWN DIES to cut the pieces out.
Next, I used the BRUSH STROKE WAVES STENCIL to blend out the ocean for the background. I then trimmed the piece and glued it to the card front and began building the scene from there.
To create the illusion of the water in the background I popped up the houses starting with the houses closest to the ocean. I then used the SIMPLE BORDERS DIES to create the grass and to cover up the bottom edges of the buildings. The middle hill was just the opposite cut of the die that I glued in place and added some trees and bushes to.
For the front row of houses, I added an extra layer of foam only to the top parts of the buildings to continue to the illusion of depth.
To finish off the card I stamped out the sentiment from the WHIMSICAL TOWN stamps onto the bottom grass piece and popped it onto place.
