Hi there! Emily Midgett here with you today sharing some garden floral inspiration using my favorite stamp set from the latest Studio Katia release: Floral Garden. I love that this stamp has the ability to cover an entire card front, but it can also serve as a partial stamp because the edges are complete. I used just half of the stamp and my Tombow Watercolor Markers to create this floral bouquet, so let’s get started with the details!
I began by heat embossing the Floral Garden stamp on some watercolor paper using Brass embossing powder. I then used my Tombow Watercolor markers in shades of pink, lavender, yellow, and orange to create this pretty summer bouquet. (The shape on those tulips is to die for. So much fun to shade. Maybe I’m weird… I love a well-shaped petal haha!) Watercoloring requires lots of layers to create depth, so don’t be afraid to add another layer to really get those shadows! The tulips on this project alone have 4 layers of color.
After I’d added color to the entire bouquet, I used a pretty shade of blue to add a halo around the edge of the bouquet. Don’t be afraid to use lots of water on your halos to get them to fade nicely! I added a sentiment strip using a greeting from Japanese Peony heat embossed on a strip of navy blue card stock, then adhered it using foam tape.
The final touch was to add a few Iridescent jewels to add some sparkle to this colorful card front!
Well, that’s all for me today! I hope you’re having fun playing with all of the new goodies from the latest release… so many fun products!
